We want each child to take up responsibility and ini# a# ve in their own field. This is a vital part of the school system.Even the Montessori system lays emphasis on sharing responsibility at an early age. Such people tend to value rela# onships and earn self respect. At this point current paren# ng trends are brought into focus. Few parents do not consider their children grown up enough to take up small responsibili# es like packing their bag, polishing shoes, keeping study table # dy, taking care of their belongings. Sharing responsibili# es leads to sharing ideas and a sense of belongingness to family and community. A brilliant idea is useless without ac# on. Affec# on and rela# onship cannot sustain on material exchanges alone. Affec# on needs response. Understand the child and spend quality # me with her. This will help the child to be honest to you and emo# onally strong enough to # de over any crisis in life.

1. Independence Day Celebration (Main Campus) 15 th August 2015 th The 69 Independence Day was celebrated at Aparna World School, Main Campus with traditional th gaiety and fervour on 15 of August. The celebrations to mark the day commenced with the unfurling of the tricolour by our respected chief guest, Prof. Lalit Mohan Dash, Former Principal, Women's College followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Chairman of Aparna Foundation- Mr. Om Prakash Poddar, Secretary of the school- Mr. Ajay Poddar and Director - Mrs. Preeti Poddar graced the occasion. Dr. Arun Kumar Sinha, Principal of the school thereafter welcomed the Chief Guest, member of the managing committee and the parents. Prof. Lalit Mohan Dash in his speech spoke about the historical aspect of our nation's struggle for independence commencing from the World War I to 15, August 1947. Chief guest Prof. Dash officiated over the first Investiture Ceremony of the school. The school office bearers were formally inducted during the Investiture Ceremony by the Chief Guest. He also presented the sash to the office bearers. All the four Houses were ceremonially presented with their respective house flags. They took oath to protect and uphold the dignity of the school. Aparna World School marked the occasion by a March past of all the Houses led by the Head Boy and the Head Girl. The students Aditya Sakunia(Class – V), Surbhi Singh (Class – VI) and Swara Salve(LKG) delivered speeches on the “Independence Day” where as Zaid Hussain (Class- V) enunciated about “The Missile Man – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam”. A cultural performance by young dancers staged first with great zeal in the school premises which was one of the important highlights of the day. Dance performance by girls on the song “Des Rangila” enchanted the audience. The boys performed contemporary dance on a patriotic song “India Bala”. Art and Craft Exhibition was organized by the teachers- Ms Shreya Joshi, T Shravani and Aparna Kabiraj and the students. The children showcased their creativity by displaying their art and craft objects. Rangoli, Alpana, Mask making, Flower making and Origami were some of the displays. 2. Puppet Shown 20th August 2015 Puppet show is a traditional show or dance of dolls in different forms, mainly seen in rural India. Basically, as very important part of folk dances it was used to narrate different stories especially mythological tales and moral stories. It was a great source of entertainment and education prior to introduction of modern education. Puppetry has reinvented itself and found an important role as a mode of narrative. Puppet show was organized by Aparna World School, City Campus on 20-August (Thursday) .It was an in house activity planned exclusively for the children. The show was organized to make the students aware of a different form of storytelling which is very closely linked to our ancient culture. A puppet theatre and puppets were prepared with the help of cartons, scrap paper th and other waste materials. As Raksha Bandhan was going to be held on 28 August, the story of Raksha Bandhan was relevant story to be shown to the kids.In the City Campus, Ms Amrita Kaur narrated the story of Krishna and Draupadi where Draupadi tore a strip from her saree and tied it around Krishna's bleeding finger. Krishna gave her the promise of lifelong protection and a later protected her from disgrace. In the Main Campus Ms Seema Singh narrated the same story to the children as the theme of the puppet show.All children enjoyed the Puppet show. Based on the story of puppet show, and interactive session was held between the students and the teachers. 3. Pre-Primary Exhibition 22nd August 2015 The Pre primary exhibition of kreedo material was held on 22nd of August at the main Campus. The purpose of this exhibition was to make the parents aware of the Montessori methodology of teaching. The concept of education has changed and education now deals with all the facets of development and not merely reading and writing. The exhibition was divided into two time slots i.e. 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 11:00-12:00 noon. The parents had the choice to opt any of the slots. The day was started with the registration of the parents invited. Welcome speech was delivered by the Centre Head of the Pre Primary Ms.Chanchal Dua. Parents saw and enquired about all the Montessori materials displayed. The kreedo Materials of all the classes was exhibited with proper classification and explanatory notes on chart papers. At first the EPL materials (Exercise of Practical Life) were displayed in the exhibition. It consisted of materials like churning, pounding etc., which the children see at home and can easily relate to. The next segment constituted of materials related to Motor Skills and Sensorial Development. These materials are used to strengthen the coordination between muscles and refine the sense organs. The Environmental Science area covered the solar system, our nation-India, birds, animals, fruits etc. Materials related to Cognitive and Linguistic development were displayed. The parents show the children using kredo material for learning. The story of Maria Montessori, the pioneer of Montessori system was displayed in the exhibition. Parents witnessed the exhibition and they appreciated the way the materials were used for learning. The ease with which their kids used the materials surprised them. The feedback was positive. 4. Bonding Relations 28 th August 2015 Indian culture is a unique and exceptional blend of religions, festivals, languages. The greatest challenge in today's world is retaining this diversity and simultaneously making the present generation aware of its significance. A small initiative was taken by Aparna World School in the form Bonding Relations Event on Friday, 28th August 2015.The significance of relationship between brother and sister was demonstrated through this event. A day prior to the event the children had done colouring and pasting of the images of sister tying rakhi to her brother in the scrapbook. They th had also pasted rakhis in the scrapbook. On Friday, 28 August the students came to school in traditional attire to make the event more colourful and create an ambience of festivity. They were shown a video clip on Rakhi by Pushpalata Barada (Teacher) and Chanchal Dua (Centre Head).The video had the story of Krishna and Draupadi. As lord Krishna was bleeding Draupadi tore a strip from her saree and tied around Krishna's finger. Krishna promised to protect and help her throughout life. Myth has it that when Drupadi was in distress Krishna provided endless amount of sarees to protect her honour in lieu of that small strip of saree . Amrita Kaur and Radhika Jaiswal(Teachers) demonstrated the preparation of Rakhi thali. Later on, the class teachers put tilak on the children's forehead, tied rakhi and distributed sweets. 1. Rakhi Making Competition (Man Campus) 28 th August 2015 Raksha Bandhan – promise of love and everlasting relationship between brother and sister was celebrated at Aparna World School a day before on 28th August. To commemorate this festival Rakhi making competition was organized for the students of the primary section at the main campus. It was truly a delight to watch the young hands of our little artisans put together intricate decorative materials such as mirrors, strings, beads, ornaments, adhesive etc to deliver beautiful and extremely creative masterpieces. The rakhis made were an enviable lot and a fusion of modern with traditional, style. Each rakhi was wrapped in a coloured paper designed with a logo of brother and sister as well as a quotation expressing the relationship. The following were announced winners based on their creativity and neatness by the Art &Craft teacher Ms. Shreya Joshi.
