Our First Experience Teachers Our first experience in Aparna World School on 16th March 2015 was unexplainable and hard to frame it in words. It was indeed thrilling admist nervousness and curiousity. We had a mixed feeling oozing out both from the heart and head. Though all the teachers were accompanied with their experience from other schools, somewhere an emotion of fright was with us on that fateful day. On that very day all the teachers reached school by bus. We saw anxious parents waiting in the school premises. Parents were worried and excited. Teachers tried to answer their queries. All the teaching staff started the day with an assembly. Teachers and students introduced them one by one. Teachers took the students on a tour to the school resources. After a break the classes began to run smoothly. The end of the day was productive for everyone. All the teachers and students were happy with the first day at school. ‐ Ms T Sravani & Ms Pragyan Priyambada

Our First Day Students My first day in Aparna World School was on 16th March 2015. I was so excited that I woke up at 7:00 am. My mother helped me to get ready for school and when I looked at the mirror I was so happy to see my new colour dress. I looked so smart that my neighbours liked it very much. My parents took me to school in our new car. When I reached school many children became my friends. Teachers took us for campus tour and showed me my class. It was a spacious and airy room. As we entered my class teacher welcomed me and other students and through her words she made us comfortable that I felt very relaxed. Seema ma'am took math's in first period and she explained us so well that all students listened attentively. Then we had Drawing class, reading class etc .We had so much fun that we did not realize that the school is over. My parents came to take me and on the way I told all the fun I had in school. ‐ Aditi Sakunia (Class III), Shaurya Srivastav (Class IV) & Zaid Hussain (Class V)

Activities Held in AWS 1. BUILDING BODY AND MIND THROUGH KARATE Co curricular activities enhance life skills and add to the confidence level. Given the incidents of violence against women and children in recent years, the art of self defense has become a necessity. Karate as a martial art is to tone up the body, mind and spirit developing fitness and stamina through regular work outs. Karate classes were organized in the school on 21st and 22nd March, 2015. Initially as a regular activity it will be held at least twice a week. Sansai Susanta Gupta, a 3rd Dan Black belt has been teaching young ones of Jharsuguda for the last fourteen years. Warm up included basic movements like kick, punch, reverse punch, block, touch and back .Students from class I to VI enjoyed the early morning sessions. We hope our students will soon acquire adequate skills to participate in local and state level competitions.

2. PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS Among performing and visual arts dance and alpana making was taken up as activities being conducted at school. Aparna Kaviraj introduced dance styles to the young ones. She is well versed in classical dance‐Bharatnatyam and Odissi as well as folk dances. Basic steps of Bharatnatayam were taught in the first week to the neophytes and those already taking dancing lessons got a chance to practice advanced steps. She also started drawing and painting classes among the students and their work was displayed on the soft boards of their respective classes. The art of Alpana making, mask making, soft toys, paper work and other craft activities will be taken up on regular basis in coming months.

Transport An efficient transport system is vital to managing the school system. Before the beginning of the session two 36 seater Tata Marcopolo mid size buses were purchased by the management to cater to the need of the students and teachers. Buses started plying from 17 th March in two routes. Mr Hardeep Singh the transport in charge informed that route number 1 starts picking up students from Bhushan Steel, Vedanta township, Badmal, Sarbhal and parts of Jharsuguda town. Route 2 starting from L.N College, Kali Mandir Road, railway overbridge, Bahramal, Bombay chowk , BTM, Boxi chowk and Shivalik Homes reaches the Main Campus. At present there are two time slots first Class I to VI reaching school at 7.20 am and Pre‐school kids reaching school at 8.30 am .The identity of the drivers and conductors have been verified for safety reasons ,assuring a safe drive to the parents from pick points to school and back. A separate arrangement has been implemented for Pre‐ school kids from Aditya Birla Township keeping in mind the time and distance involved. With the summers approaching fast, the transport timings will see further change.
