Manteniendo su estructura de contenidos, la AOA número 32 profundiza en dos temas relevantes iniciados en la edición anterior. El primero es la Arquitectura de la Modernidad en Brasil, que esta vez incorpora una novedosa visión del aporte de arquitectos extranjeros en el desarrollo de la densificación en altura de la ciudad de Sao Paulo. La investigación es un aporte del mismo equipo de profesores a cargo del artículo previo: los arquitectos y académicos brasileros Eduardo Ferroni, Felipe de Souza Noto y Moracy Amaral. El otro tema, en una continuidad a la entrevista a Alejandro Aravena de la revista 31, es una interesante y acabada perspectiva del profesor Pablo Allard sobre la Bienal de Venecia, en la que interpreta y comprueba el éxito de la tesis planteada por Aravena, respaldada por todos los participantes, de devolver a la arquitectura su real valor en el desarrollo del habitar humano junto a su compromiso político por el bienestar de las personas. Continuando con la nueva sección de publicar extractos de tesis presentadas para optar al grado de magíster en Arquitectura, mostramos el estudio de "Diseño de Envolventes Variables" para mejorar el desempeño energético de edificios de oficinas en Santiago, del arquitecto Pedro Pablo de la Barra, de la Pontificia Universidad Católica. El sentido de esta sección es despertar el interés de profundizar y difundir sus proposiciones. En las obras de nuestros socios tenemos el conjunto de edificios de Nueva Apoquindo, que destacan por la apertura y transparencia lograda con la libre conformación de los volúmenes. El hotel Awasi, en la XII Región, muestra su delicada implantación en el lugar y su simplicidad en los detalles y uso de la madera. Dos obras, el Centro de Atención al Vecino de Peñalolén y la escuela América de Combarbalá, responden a necesidades sociales que es importante destacar. Las otras obras corresponden a viviendas unifamiliares, cada una con una caracterización arquitectónica especial. En Arquitectura Joven presentamos a Del Río Arquitectos Asociados, y de su ya diversa obra seleccionamos tres refugios en madera que destacan por su implantación y respeto por el entorno natural. Tres son los concursos publicados: la Explanada de los Mercados, un interesante aporte al desarrollo de los espacios públicos en Santiago abarcando una superficie aproximada de 20 ha; el edificio de 5.300 m² de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades de la Universidad Austral en el campus Isla Teja de Valdivia, y el premio al mejor proyecto de título en Chile y Latinoamérica, convocado por el Centro de Conservación del Patrimonio CICOP; el proyecto premiado corresponde a una alumna de la Universidad Católica de Río Grande do Sul en Brasil. Fiel a lo que hemos planteado en la revista a lo largo de su historia, la búsqueda de calidad y diseño de las obras mostradas se acompaña con el análisis de la trayectoria seguida por la arquitectura, el pensamiento y personas que responden al compromiso con la sociedad a la cual pertenecemos y al ambiente en que vivimos. Debemos optimizar resultados y buscar la excelencia, para lo cual, como la revista es de todos, llamamos a colaborar con su gestión y permanencia.

Keeping its content structure, AOA number 32 delves into two important themes begun in the previous edition. The first is the Architecture of Modernity in Brazil, which this time incorporates a new vision of the contribution of foreign architects in the development of high rise densification in the city of Sao Paulo. The research is a contribution by the same team of teachers in charge of the previous article: Brazilian architects and academics Eduardo Ferroni, Felipe de Souza Noto and Moracy Amaral. The other subject, following the interview with Alejandro Aravena in magazine 31, is an interesting and comprehensive perspective by Professor Pablo Allard on the Venice Biennale, in which he interprets and proves the success of the thesis put forth by Aravena and backed by all participants, to give back to architecture its real value in the development of human living along with its political commitment to the welfare of people. Continuing with the new section publishing extracts from thesis presented for the degree of Master in Architecture, we publish the study of "Design of Variable Enclosures" to improve the energy performance of office buildings in Santiago, by architect Pedro Pablo de la Barra, of the Catholic University. The purpose of this section is to awaken interest and to deepen and disseminate their proposals. In the section dedicated to our associates’ works we show the group of buildings in Nueva Apoquindo, noted for the openness and transparency achieved with the free placement of the volumes. The Awasi hotel in Region XII shows its delicate implantation on the site and the simplicity of the details and use of wood. Two works, the Citizens Service Center in Peñalolén and the America School in Combarbalá, respond to social needs it is important to mention. The other works correspond to single-family houses, each with a special architectural characterization. In Young Architecture we present Del Río Arquitectos Asociados, and from its already diverse work we select three wooden lodges that stand out for their placement and respect for the natural environment. There are three published competitions: the Marketplaces Esplanade, an interesting contribution to the development of public spaces in Santiago, covering an area of approximately 20 ha; the 5.300 m² building of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Isla Teja campus, and the prize for the best degree project in Chile and Latin America, organized by the Center for Heritage Conservation CICOP; the winning project corresponds to a student at the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. True to what we have proposed in the magazine throughout its history, the pursuit of quality and design of the works on display is accompanied by the analysis of the road taken by our architecture, the principles, and the people who respond to the commitment to the society to which we belong and the environment in which we live. We must optimize the results and strive for excellence, for which, as the magazine belongs to all of us, we ask for your collaboration with its management and permanence.
