MESSAGE FROM STEPHANIE BUCKEL COUNCILWOMAN

Recreation has been working hard to give residents some fun community activities this summer. We hope you all enjoyed the Fireworks Extravaganza, which was an amazing way to kick off the summer season in Matawan! This August, get ready for our third annual Family Night Under the Stars every Thursday, with 3 concerts and 2 movies planned. If you have not yet visited our Local Farmers Market, please do! The market runs through October 27th, every Friday from 2pm-7pm. The market is located at 201 Broad St. You will find items from fruits and vegetables, to fresh honey, baked goods, fresh tea, gourmet pickles, jewelry, and much more! For any business interested in participating please contact recreation@ matawanborough.com. All Matawan businesses can participate at no cost! Our annual summer camp is in full swing and kids are having a blast! Don’t forget to also visit the lake and rent a kayak or canoe on weekends.

Thank you to Soup Kitchen 411 for supporting our Friday meal distribution program. We have been blessed to work with Soup Kitchen 411 for the last few years, helping us meet the needs of people in our community. Stay tuned for additional dates as they become available. Visit Matawan Borough web page as well as our Facebook page for updates. Lastly, clean communities has started a Stormwater program, encouraging residents to “Adopt a Catch Basin.” You can adopt a catch basin by your home to help maintain and keep it free of debris. We are currently taking signups. If you are interested or would like more information, please email stormwater@matawanborough.com.
