The fanfare of celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Burrowes Mansion that drew so many people to downtown Matawan on the weekend of June 4th and 5th will continue! A brass quintet concert will take place in the backyard of the Mansion at 94 Main Street on Saturday, August 5 at 4 PM. Five professional brass players will provide music by John Philip Sousa, Fats Waller, George Gershwin, Giovanni Gabrieli, Paul Dukas, Edward Elgar, Henry Mancini, W. C. Handy, J. S. Bach, John Williams, and Kurt Weill. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be indoors at Borough Hall, 201 Broad Street. Although it was so much fun dressing up as the Corn King at the reenactment back in June, I won’t be in my 18th century costume, but I will be playing the tuba. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn behind the Mansion and enjoy a free concert!
