ARTISTS IN THE WILD is a Culture Collective project that will introduce participants to island based artists. The project involves visiting different artists across Lewis and Harris learning about their work and motivations. The artists will then take participants out into the landscape where they will engage in a creative visual arts activity. Activities will vary with each artist.
Mary Morrison is based in Kyles Scalpay, Harris, and her work is infused with the space, light and elemental qualities of the Atlantic archipelago. It suggests liminal spaces, edges and shifting tidal lines She evokes a sense of place and natural forms through an alchemical use of oil-based materials. These combine with graphic elements and annotation relating to mapping, measuring and music, creating an additional visual language and tension within the paintings.

He draws and paints expressively and representationally, working directly from life, out on location "en plein air " Kenneth employs a variety of materials, often combining them in a single piece, and is currently focused on using water-based paints and inks on paper.
