Our projects always start with a story Walking through a scenery, observing and listening to the heart of a place and its community while stepping back somewhat, creates an important understanding of how areas evolve and landscapes develop. In fact, every landscape has its own soul and is a mirror of the society that formed it. Our approach has its unique style, shaped with generosity and longevity, targeted at the protagonists of the story. This approach enables us to overcome and unite complex and seemingly fragmented landscapes. Only by doing so we can truly develop places. LAND’s work is multidisciplinary, embracing the uniqueness of every single area, to define a common vision that enables process and follows a strategy. LANDscape architecture offers a response to today’s challenges of a sharing society. It never loses sight of the people, the protagonist of our story. So, nature becomes a tangible reality, a driver for a productive and resilient landscape.

Our services

LANDSCAPE We work at every scale

ARCHITECTURE We create space for people

NATURE We cultivate resilience

LAND is an international landscape consultancy with offices in Italy, Switzerland and Germany and with high-profile projects throughout Europe, Canada, Middle East and Russia. Andreas Kipar and a team of more than 100 landscape architects, architects, urban planners, agronomists, engineers and researchers have been transforming regions, cities and places since 1990. LAND’s consulting and design practice aims to improve people’s well-being through the implementation of climate-positive solutions and participative processes that lead to sustainable development.

DEVELOPMENT We strive for sustainable development

We advise public and private clients on how to innovate with nature by applying international policies and promoting collaborative planning procedures. Our services range from strategic consulting to territorial planning and open space design, from the concept to the construction until the handover of projects based on a certified Quality Management System.

Strategic masterplans We foster territorial development handling transformations and preserving the character of each place Our masterplan design can be recognized by a unique connection of public open spaces that facilitates social, civic and economic interactions. LAND collaborates with municipalities, public administrations and companies with the aim of creating lively and sustainable cities. Our design process starts by observing and listening to the people who live, work and play in a particular place in order to understand their needs and aspirations related to that space and their community as a whole.

Urban masterplans We design liveable spaces through collaborative innovation Urban development provides the opportunity to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces, turning them into inspirational areas at the heart of a community. Strengthening the connection between people and the places they share, LAND shapes attractive and inclusive public spaces through collaborative processes. From neighbourhoods to farmlands, our LAND teams highly respect nature with all the peculiar features of a territory, striving to create a strong iconic identity.

Infrastructures We strengthen natural elements to combine environment with development For LAND infrastructures are opportunities to intervene on the landscape, redefining relations with the surrounding territory and the balance between human activity and natural elements. On one hand, we act with precise mitigating actions to respond adequately to local issues, on the other we follow a unified strategy on a vast scale, capable of reinterpreting territorial resources and re-establishing a positive trend in terms of liveability and environmental quality.

Parks We bring people close to nature Landscape architecture represents an extraordinary opportunity to create more environmentally attractive and healthy cities. At every step of the design, the LAND team evaluates the surrounding context, including the history and use of the land or nearby landmarks. In urban parks, just like in natural ecosystems, increasing biodiversity means protecting its resilience and its ability to respond and adapt to change while maintaining its essential character. LAND facilitates creative patterns of use, paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identity, which defines a place and supports its ongoing sustainable evolution.

Waterscapes We achieve a sustainable balance between people and environment through the enhancement of water

In response to contemporary environmental and social challenges, LAND’s approach sees a potential in the innovative format of green-blue infrastructures, where water is treated as a vital element and an indispensable resource for life. In our projects new wet-ecosystems not only support urban drainage but also provide novel habitats for animal and plant biodiversity, thus strengthening their resilience to diseases and sudden meteorological events.

Environmental recovery and mitigation We enhance existing landscapes to create healthy ecosystems and vibrant communities

From wide scale planning to detailed projects, LAND supports wildlife and biodiversity, improving relations among living species - plants and animals - in a specific territory. LAND embraces all the environmental benefits for communities through carefully planned environmental design. We promote soft mobility by designing solutions that encourage physical activity for all ages, making walking, bicycling and transit accessible.

Corporate & Retail We convey identity to create inspiring landscapes LAND accompanies and supports its clients in the definition of a long-term corporate vision, where sustainability, environmental responsibility and landscape play a central role. Every design is based on the careful use of existing resources, materials and the provision of sustainable energy. All these factors equally aim to create healthy working places that encourage social interactions and provide a calming setting.

LAND Research Lab® LAND Research Lab® (LRL) is a research&innovation unit of LAND Group on emerging trends and technologies for landscape development. The Lab aims to identify collaborative procedures and data-driven methodologies to make cities and rural areas more liveable, climate-proof and resource-efficient by reconnecting people with nature. The Lab provides consultancy on urban and territorial transformation processes applying international sustainability guidelines to local ecosystem and communities, fostering regenerative projects and renaturation measures. Special services provided are design and assessment of naturebased solutions, green infrastructure planning, sustainability strategies, participative public space ideation and cooperation within European research networks. Research projects and strategies have been developed also inhouse, such as Digital Landscape, Adaptive Design, Landscape Information Modelling®, until the newly born 5-Minutes-Nature approach. LRL is partner of the H2020-funded projects UNaLab and T-Factor; moreover we joined the “Italian Architects Declare Climate and Biodiversity Emergency” initiative, signed the Manifersto for EU Covid-19 Research and Nature-Based Solutions Cooperation Manifesto, and are member of NetworkNature platform, the European Task-Force on NBS Impact and YAC teaching panel.
