Call for Board Applications Mesahat was established in September 2015 to work on identifying and reducing security risks and eliminating the social obstacles faced by sexual and gender minorities in the Nile Valley Area (Egypt and Sudan). In addition to creating appropriate means and tools for Queer activists to carry out their work safely and contribute to creating nourished and effective Queer societies. Our Board consists of 2 representatives from the Nile Valley Area (Egypt and Sudan). The board virtually meets once every month. Mesahat is calling for applications for two Board Members. The process will be as follows: - Send your CV and a copy of the questionnaire form. See below the list of requirements for a representative to be elected onto Mesahat’s board. - Please note that applications to be a candidate for a Board seat will close on [1\3\2024] - The Board nomination committee will vet candidates according to the set criteria identified as follows; Requirements for Candidacy 1. You must have demonstrable qualifications in one or more of the following areas: •

Financial management and treasurer duties

Fundraising, grant writing, and grant reporting

Legal issues and compliance for non-profits

Staff supervision and strategic plan implementation through programming

Board governance and management

2. You must have excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and oral; consistent access to internet and a computer are essential 3. You must have strong character, tenacity, and integrity 4. You must have 10 hours per month to dedicate to your work as a Board Member 5. You must have strong political analysis of what it means to be an intersectional LGBTQI+ foundation in Egypt and Sudan 6. You must be able to, in your own way, provide leadership within and on behalf of Mesahat foundation Desirable Qualities 1.

Experience in one or more of our programmatic areas: •

Capacity and movement building of activists in Egypt and/or Sudan

Holistic Safety and Security (digital security, psychological well-being, personal safety and sexual health)

Documentation of violations based on SOGIESC and documentation of oral histories

Human rights, policy, and legal advocacy

Regional and international networking, and outreach on behalf of Mesahat

2. Demonstrated leadership within an LGBTQI+ community or communities 3. Strong collegial networks; sub-regional, regional and international 4. Public speaking skills
