The Bentwater Ladies Golf Association has been in full swing. October began with a bang as the ladies competed in the annual Bentwater Cup, which pits the golfers living on the Miller Course against the golfers on the Weiskopf. The event began with a rally on Friday night with each team doing their share of talking. The Weiskopf team was ably led by Lavera Meadors and Darlene Bumstead. The Miller group took their cues from their captains, Barbara Sorsdal and Pat Primavera. The Ryder Cup Style Tournament was played on the Weiskopf course. This hard fought contest came on the heels of the doubly tough 9-hole and 18-hole club championships, held on September 6-7 for the 9-holers and September 9-11 for the big girls. It was a tough competition, and everyone of our members would like to

congratulate our club championships, Sandy Wagner, the 9-hole champ and Diana Henigan, our 2011 club champion. After all of that serious competition, the ladies took a breather the end of October. Some of the ladies took advantage of an off-week and traveled to Louisiana for the Bentwater Ladies Organization annual BLO Golf and Gambling trip. Other BLGA members competed outside Bentwater, at the WTGA Senior Stroke Play at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugarland, at Northwoods Interclub at Raveneaux or the Bluebonnet Interclub at the Village. November is a full month of Tuesday play days with one of the premier BLGA events coming up on November 8. The Fall
The 9-hole group has also been busy this fall. Besides competing in the Bentwater Cup and the 9-Hole Championship, the ladies also hosted the Pacesetters Interclub teams from River Plantation, April Sound, Walden, Woodlands and The Village at Bentwater on October 5. The Pacesetters have been very active this year, starting in March at April Sound, followed by River Plantation and the Woodlands in the spring. In the fall, their season began at The Village followed by Bentwater and finishing up at Walden in November. Bentwater players have walked away with prizes at each tournament, frequently coming in first place. The 9-holers had no time to rest after hosting the October Pacesetter event. They followed up less than two weeks later

with their first invitational tournament. The “Bewitched Invitational” was held on Tuesday, October 18. It was a 9-hole TwoLady Scramble. The Bentwater 9-holers are hoping to continue this event every year. The final event for the year is the Jingle Bell Brunch held on Saturday, December 3. BLGA members will enjoy a nice brunch, cheer for all of the winners and champions and meet our officers for the next year. We want to see all of the BLGA members come out for this grand finale of the year. Reservations can be made through the Bentwater Club website about mid-November. Congratulations go out to Diana Hennigan who was the consolation winner for the third flight of the WTGA State Amateur Championship at Walden. Also placing at the same event was Shirley Rabuck who was the runner-up in the fourth flight. Way to go, ladies.
