The Alliance for Downtown New York is pleased to release a report covering the importance of healthcare and nonprofit companies to Lower Manhattan's economy and office market with more than 1,000 tenants in these industries in offices south of Chambers Street. These sectors have grown significantly since the depths of the recession in 2009 and helped push overall private sector employment in the district to its highest level since September 11, 2001. Their growing presence downtown increases the resiliency of the area’s economy and adds richness and complexity to the labor profile of the neighborhood.
