HONOR CREDIT UNION

Celebrates Allendale Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – NOVEMBER 3, 2022 – Honor celebrated the o cial ribbon cutting of its new Allendale Member Center on Friday, October 28th. Honor CEO, Scott McFarland, and Allendale’s Member Center Manager, Abbey Vaughan, began the celebration with a welcome to those in attendance, including Richard Atwell, representing the Honor Board of Directors and members of the Leadership Team present.

Extending his gratitude to the community and the stakeholders who helped make this member center a reality, McFarland commented, “We can’t do it without our volunteer board of directors. As a credit union, we know that’s what makes us special. We’re owned by our members, and our board is a volunteer board. They support our visions of growing in these communities, knowing that financial services are a valuable piece of any community.”

McFarland next introduced Member Center Manager Abbey Vaughan, who spoke on what it means to be new to the community, future relationships, providing a positive space, and the joy of being welcomed into Allendale.

Others who spoke at the ceremony included the Executive Director of the Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce, Rebecca Wildeboer, Allendale Charter Township Supervisor Adam Elenbaas, and Michigan State Representative, Luke Meerman.

The theme of community and belonging were of no shortage, as Wildeboer touched on the di erence Honor Credit Union makes and the feeling of belonging as you walk in the door. Allendale Charter Township Supervisor Adam Elenbaas echoed these words and commented, “we ‘get’ to do this everyday,” describing what it means to create a positive atmosphere and impact in the community.

Following the o cial ribbon cutting, guests enjoyed lunch from local business, Peppino’s of Allendale, complimentary Honor goodie bags, and networking amongst their peers.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony attendees included Honor’s Commercial Loan O cer James McLaughlin, Mortgage Loan Originator Jon Rodriguez, Regional Manager Amber Cuvelier, Member Experience Manager Amy Cook, Member Center Manager Abbey Vaughan, her team in Allendale, and several local business owners.

1st Grade,

Boy Scout and AHS student, Jeremy Kloosterman, spent some of his summer and fall hours building picnic tables for the students at Oakwood Intermediate Mrs Luban shared with Jeremy last spring that the students would appreciate some place to sit and read or gather with friends at recess. Jeremy started to put a plan together last spring and finished the

tables this fall. Jeremy had several local businesses sponsor the purchase and building of the tables: Mike Kelly, State Farm Insurance; Allendale True Value; Valley Church and Meade Zolman Family Dentistry. The building of the tables will serve as a project for which Jeremy will earn his Eagle Scout status.

foundation for her and her family. We o er counseling and advocates who walk our pregnant moms through every step of the process of having a child and beyond. We are happy to say that we still have relationships with moms who stayed with us 10, 15, and even 20 years ago! They are now giving back to other moms who are experi encing similar walks of life.

Whether you voted for or against proposal 3, I believe that everyone is concerned about the women who become pregnant as a result of rape, incest, sex tra ck ing, or are experiencing poverty. Many of these women feel forced into having an abortion because of these and other circumstances. The Family Life Center specializes in helping women that feel trapped by these di cult situa tions. We will help anyone who is experiencing an unex pected pregnancy that needs our resources. We primarily do this by providing housing, transportation and life skills training. We help moms identify their unique gifts and talents and help them put those to work building a solid
