REFINED SENSORY SOLUTIONS

WHY IS THERE SENSORY THERAPY OFFERED AT AN EYE DOCTOR’S OFFICE?

Visual processing is a key element of our sensory integration system and the connection to the brain function involved with seeing. The interconnection of the visual system to the auditory and vestibular systems is key to successful learning and life function. Sensory therapy is needed for those individuals where this is not working properly due to developmental delays or traumatic occurrences.

BUT WHY SPECIFICALLY AT ALLENDALE EYE CARE?

Dr. Roslund became certified 18 years ago to bring this life changing therapy to West Michigan. Initially motivated by her own son with Autism, this therapy has successfully improved the quality of life for so many children and adults.

WHY DID THE NAME CHANGE FROM SENSORY LEARNING CENTER TO REFINED SENSORY SOLUTIONS?

Dr. Roslund combined efforts with other professionals to create a team of Sensory Therapy providers. The professional expertise now includes Speech and Language Pathologist, Elaina Stewart and Occupational Therapist, Rachel Boven, all surrounding the sensory integration needs. Our goal is to make this dynamic therapy readily available to more individuals.

WHAT DOES THIS THERAPY HELP WITH?

It addresses all sensory processing disorders including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language processing, fine motor skills, PTSD, TBI and so much more.

HOW CAN I LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS THERAPY?

You can check out our website at RefinedSensory.com which includes a FREE online assessment. Our team of providers also offer complimentary in-office evaluations and sample therapy sessions.

BizStream is a full-service digital agency focused on brands and websites and is one of the most respected CMS partners in the world. Their team of 35+ employees is a highly-skilled group of developers, designers, digital strategists, and support staff. For BizStream’s founders, supporting that team means embracing innovation, adventure, camaraderie, and a little playfulness. BizStream of Allendale's work-life balance and genuine connections made for a busy summer, so if you haven't already heard, let's catch you up on what BizStream has been doing!

BIZSTREAM CELEBRATES DISTINGUISHED AWARD

BizStream has always prioritized a work environment that supports team growth, work-life balance, and well-being. They offer flexible hybrid schedules and various events to ensure a happy and healthy team.

Because of that, BizStream was recognized as one of the 2023 awardees for the Michigan 50 Distinguished Alumni—Great Place to Work Award on May 2, 2023. This award celebrates recipients for their increased contributions to their community and for fostering a creative, collaborative workplace culture.

Founder Mark Schmidt and Co-Founder Brian McKeiver both commented on how essential a positive work environment is and how creating that space for their employees was why they set out to start a business in the first place.

BizStream's impressive track record of being a creative, collaborative workplace culture continues to make it one of the Allendale community's role models for small businesses.

BizStream Celebrates Work-Life Balance and Inclusive Achievements

BizStream continued their relationship with work-life balance by getting outside and soaking in some sunshine this summer.

Starting with their annual company golf outing, the BizStream team was able to bond and let loose on the fairway. In July, BizStream took to the woods on a camping and backpacking adventure in the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area. The team also unwound at the company picnic at Michigan Adventures, where they indulged in good food and great fun.

"Crafted with intention, our events team designs these occasions to offer our team a chance to unwind while nurturing our core values," says Michelle Lentz, marketing lead at BizStream.

Those core values include: Whatever It Takes, Work Hard, Play Hard, We Are a Team, Be Fearless, Foster Growth in Others, Care, and Be Positive. It's great to have an excellent example of how a successful, thriving business can also make time for its employees to help management and team members bond, connect, and be genuine with one another.

INC. MAGAZINE'S BEST WORKPLACES FOR 2023

Inc. Magazine's annual Best Workplace list measures excellence for American companies that create an exceptional workplace and company culture.

According to Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk, "Being named to Best Workplaces is an honor that only a small fraction of companies have been able to claim."

So, of course, BizStream has been named on that list!

BizStream's recognition on Inc. Magazine's Best Workplace list benefits the company and has a ripple effect on our Allendale community. Recognition like this is just a stepping stone toward attracting talent, boosting our local economy, and nurturing our community pride!

consideration for all their team members and their individual needs.

We're looking forward to photos of 'The Mothership' when it is fully finished!

INNOVATION AT BIZSTREAM: "THE MOTHERSHIP"

In August, BizStream announced that their Loop Pods have allowed their team members to host internal sync-ups, virtual meetings, or just have quiet work sessions. These booth-like structures are made of wood and glass, allowing for privacy and silence. They include two seats and a middle table, with just enough room for two or maybe three people.

And, in true BizStream fashion for naming their conference rooms, these pods have been affectionately labeled the 'Escape Pod' and 'Cyro Pod.'

Now, BizStream is proud to announce its newest installation: 'The Mothership.' This brand-new construction will be a private room for BizStream's nursing team members who need a comfortable and quiet space.

The importance of this initiative is not only to provide team members with a private space, but to also set an example of how BizStream continues to show their

SETTING A PRECEDENT

BizStream's approach to work culture and recognition as an exceptional workplace contribute to the thriving business community in Allendale. BizStream states the importance of inclusion initiatives, paying attention to their team's individual needs, and the benefits of dedication to core values.

Businesses like this set an example for current management practices and emphasize how progressive practices can boost work culture. They also set a precedent for future workers, who see what can be made possible, to help them choose workplaces that offer the best. It's really empowering to watch BizStream thrive right here in our community as a cornerstone of doing business well.

Glad to see you ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’, BizStream!

ON THE MOVE //

Selling your house in the fall or winter can be a good idea for various reasons, despite the common perception that spring and summer are the best seasons for real estate transactions. In fact, I personally have had back-to-back annual record sales in the month of October! Here are five reasons why selling your house in the fall or winter can be

1. Less Competition: Many homeowners believe that spring and summer are the best times to sell, leading to increased competition in the market during those seasons. In contrast, listing your home in the fall or winter means there will be fewer houses available for sale, potentially increasing the demand for your property and allowing it to stand out among the limited options.

2. Serious Buyers: Buyers looking for homes in the fall and winter months often have more urgency. They may need to move due to job changes, family reasons, or other circumstances, making them more motivated to complete a purchase quickly. Serious buyers can lead to faster and smoother transactions.

3. Seasonal Appeal: Fall and winter can showcase your home's seasonal charm. You can create a cozy atmosphere with warm lighting, decorations, and even a crackling fireplace, which can make your home more inviting to potential buyers. Staging your home to embrace the colder seasons can enhance its appeal.

4. More Flexibility: Buyers and sellers who operate in the fall and winter tend to be more flexible with their schedules. This flexibility can make it easier to coordinate showings, negotiations, closings and post-closing possession timing to everyone's satisfaction.

5. investor Interest: Real estate investors are active year-round. They may be more inclined to purchase properties during the fall and winter when there's less competition, and they may be looking for opportunities to invest in rental properties or fix-and-flip projects.

However, it's important to note that selling in the fall or winter also comes with potential challenges, such as less natural light for showcasing your home, colder weather, and holiday-related disruptions. To make the most of your fall or winter listing:

• Ensure your home is well-lit and cozy.

• Keep walkways and driveways clear of snow and ice.

• Decorate tastefully for the holidays, if applicable.

• Price your home competitively.

• Work with an experienced real estate agent who understands the seasonal market dynamics.

Ultimately, the decision to sell your house in the fall or winter should be based on your specific circumstances, local market conditions, and your ability to e ectively prepare and market your property during these seasons. Consulting with a local real estate professional can provide valuable insights into whether it's a good time to sell in your area.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN

YOUR JOURNEY!

Technology that keeps us safe and comfortable continues to advance within our homes, on our devices, and in our vehicles. Though these advances make life more convenient, comfortable, and safe – it can also make the cost to purchase and repair more expensive. An example of one of many recent advances in vehicle technology today is Advance Drivability Assist Systems (ADAS).

ADAS is becoming a very popular term in the automotive industry. According to a report done by AAA at least 1 ADAS feature is available in 92.7% of new vehicle models as of May 2018. These advanced technology systems are designed to help prevent deaths and injuries by reducing the number of car accidents or reducing the impact of the accident. ADAS does this by having control over steering, acceleration, and braking. With an increased amount of advanced technology in vehicles, drivers need to be aware of the cost associated with maintaining these systems. These systems require calibration after an accident, anytime they are removed or replaced, and sometimes after an alignment has been performed. If one of the components is o a single degree, that could have major implications at a distance and could cause the system to respond improperly, putting vehicle drivers and passengers at risk.

At Tolman’s Auto Tech, we want to ensure you are aware, informed, and educated on the importance and associated costs with these types of repairs. Calibrating these systems does increase the cost of normal repairs, but to ensure safety they must be performed. Call your Friends at Tolman’s Auto Tech with any questions regarding your vehicle and these systems.
