them. I knew early on that I wanted to teach but wasn’t sure which of the two subjects to choose. I began attending U.C.L.A. in 1970 with an “undecided” major. After a number of courses in American history where I could only earn B’s, I made the decision to become a math major as I was getting straight A’s in Calculus. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree I continued on at U.C.L.A. to obtain a Master’s degree in the Teaching of Mathematics. In September of 1976 I began my 31 year career of teaching middle school math in the Los Angeles School District. As a side job for 30 years I did private math tutoring. I tutored many kids whose parents were very famous and wealthy. Many of the parents were capable of doing the tutoring themselves but lacked patience and sympathy. So I came in to keep harmony in many a household.
