Admission to Veterinary Medicine in the UK Competition for places to study Veterinary medicine is high for similar reasons outlined for medicine and dentistry, but further compounded by the limited number of universities that offer the course; currently only 9. Therefore, the entry requirements are also quite stringent and numerous. Generally, the requirements are similar; requirement for interview, minimum GCSE and high A-level grades (A*AA -AAB). The main difference being that veterinary medicine does not require the UCAT or BMAT. However, there is generally an increased focus on expecting applicants to demonstrate the extent and variety of work experience completed. In many cases this involves submitting a detailed account in addition to the personal statement.
