The Empire Theatre Trust

The Trust has announced a programme to provide extra help to young people looking to develop careers in theatre and performing arts.

A new funding stream will offer financial assistance to members of the Empire Youth Theatre auditioning in 2025 for places at colleges, conservatoires and universities around the UK.

The aim is to extend support offered through the Terry Smith Awards scheme – now in its fourth year and launched in honour of the Trust’s late Chairman. Forty thousand pounds has already been handed out via the Awards to support with study costs.

Trustees met recently at the Empire with Youth Theatre members to outline the scheme and encourage applications.

Trust Chairman, David Morgan said:

‘We know auditions can be expensive to attend. And that the dreams of so many depend on getting to them – and getting through them.

The Trust is therefore pleased to be able to offer this further help towards things like travel and accommodation costs for Youth Theatre members wanting to land places on courses which are essential to their aspirations.’
