AIA LAS VEGAS PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I hope the start of 2023 has been a good one for everyone. AIA Las Vegas has started the year with some successful member meetings and events, and I am looking forward to the participation continuing throughout this year.

This past month, members of the AIA Las Vegas board were in attendance of the celebration by city, state and national representatives as February 18th was proclaimed Paul Revere Williams, FAIA day. The event was held at the Neon Museum within the La Concha Visitors’ Center, which was just one of Williams iconic architectural achievements here in Las Vegas. The event also honored Janna Ireland for her exhibit, “Janna Ireland on the Architectural Legacy of Paul Revere Williams in Nevada,” which is currently on display at the Nevada State Museum through May 30, 2023. The AIA Las Vegas Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee brought Janna to our February Member Meeting for a panel discussion about her photography exhibit.

In March, we have an incredible event planned again for the Women Building Nevada Symposium, scheduled for Friday March 31st from 1:00pm to 7:00pm. Please go on our website as more information is added for the event as well as find sponsorship opportunities available. We are looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event and hope that may more people join us this year.

Before I close this month, I also want to mention the 49th Annual AIA Las Vegas Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, April 24th. This year we will be playing at the Dragon Ridge Golf Course.
