From Jeff Krejdl's Desk

Soybean harvest is mostly complete, and I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your business. Soybean yields were good this year, and we will handle more soybeans than we did last year. This year, there was a soybean market, and we have an aggressive shipment schedule for the next few weeks to move them into the marketplace. While the weather cooperated, we faced some challenges in terms of space at the elevator and the timing of rail freight. We had to stop taking beans for a day or so in a couple of locations. It was not our first choice, but we did put beans outside in the bunker in Edison. I appreciate you working with us and your patience as we waited for those trains to show up. I am happy to say that we did get the beans picked up out of the bunker last week. It is a good feeling to have them in a bin where they are protected from the weather. The fertilizer market continues to be a challenge. Ag Valley Co-op is positioned well to ensure that you will have the fertilizer you need next spring. The volatility in the market this year is unprecedented as there are so many factors affecting the pricing structure coming from the manufacturers. I know I have mentioned this before, but that is one of the significant benefits of being part of the cooperative system. We will have the products and services available for you in uncertain times, assuming the risk in these volatile market situations. That allows you to concentrate on managing and operating your farms. Don't hesitate to contact your local agronomist to talk with them about your input needs for next spring. I would also encourage you to visit with your energy specialist about your fuel needs for next year. The overall trend of the energy markets has been up over the past several months. But the volatility in the market has presented some opportunities to lock in some of next year's needs. In closing, I again want to say thank you for your business. We know that we would not exist without you and your business. The rest of the employees and I are thankful that you allow us to assist you with your farming operations. We may not do everything perfectly, but our goal every day is to help make your operation run smoother. I would welcome the opportunity to visit with you, so please give me a call or stop in Edison and let me know what we can do to help make that happen.

Jeff Krejdl Thank you!

Fuel the Cure Campaign

Ag Valley Co-op is participating in the Fuel the Cure campaign sponsored by the Nebraska Ethanol Board. Drivers were able to participate by filling up with higher blends of ethanol E15 to flex-fuel E 85. Nearly 50 Nebraska gas stations participated by donating 3 cents of every gallon of higher ethanol blends sold between October 1 – 31. Since 2018, Nebraska’s Fuel the Cure campaign has raised over $18,000 for cancer research to the Fred and Pamela Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha. Ag Valley Co-op’s cardtrols in Bartley are participating in the campaign.

Harvest Meals

Ag Valley Co-op provided harvest meals to producers in each of our locations that handle grain. Warm pork loin sandwiches were served with chips, a cookie, and water. Ag Valley Co-op also helped sponsor KRVN, The River, and KAMI Country’s Fall in Line harvest promotion. Lana Greene from the River Morning Show, Sam Hayes Designer at KRVN, and Jenn Meyers Sales Representative at KRVN came to Edison to feed our producers Skeeter Barnes sandwiches.

Ag Valley Co-op Donates to Oxford Food Pantry Ag Valley Co-op is proud to provide a donation to the Oxford Food Pantry through a partnership with Land O’ Lakes Foundation and CoBank. This year Ag Valley Co-op donated $5,000 that was matched dollarfor-dollar by Land O’ Lakes Foundation and CoBank to the Oxford Food Pantry. The Lutheran Church in Oxford helped create a Crockpot Cookbook with items that the food pantry has on hand, allowing families to use the crockpot to make meals. The food pantry operates by appointment only and allows clients to choose which food items best suit their needs. Volunteer Susan Reynolds said, “We [Oxford Food Pantry] would not be able to do what we do without the donations we receive. We are totally dependent on donations, and we are very thankful for the support of the community.”
