and Its Importance
Mental Health is something that doesn't get enough attention although it is essential in every stage of living from childhood to adulthood. Mental health takes a toll on one's emotions and well being. It affects how one thinks, feels and acts, how well one handles stress, how one relates to others and the choices one makes and is linked to one's physical health. Mental health is an experience most do not step up and speak freely about but there are early warning signs (cry for help) that can be a means of access to getting better and towards complete recovery.
Early Warning Signs: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
Little to no eating or sleeping Avoiding and pulling away from people and activities Low energy and unexplained aches Drinking, smoking, or using drugs more than usual Feeling hopeless or numb to many things Feeling of confusion, anger, forgetfulness or worry, Excessive mood swings, fighting and yelling with family members and friends Thinking of self harm or harming others
Mental health is worth making time for, being that it is influenced by many factors. Mental health is part of being human and is changeable. Here are ways in which one can boost their mental health
Ways To Increase Mental Health: 1. Staying active: Although it is ideal to give the brian a rest, too much rest is a way in which negative thoughts begin to creep in. Staying active is good for the brain just as it is important for the body. Activities such as exercising, meditation, yoga, writing, reading, dancing, or even learning or teaching a new skill etc. 2. Talk to someone: During a tough time like this, talking to someone you trust and who cares or possibly a therapist is a good being that holds too much in and it is a most effective way to calm your nervous system and relieve stress. 3. Eat healthy and do not cling to sleep: Most times when people are going through tough times two things one adapts to is overeating and sleeping problems away which might seem like a great outcome but is actually affecting one more. 4. Find purpose and meaning: Engage in something that you love and enjoy, that makes you feel useful, spend quality time with people who matter to you and vice versa. 5. Drink and Smoke Sensible and if not able to stay away from it being that it is not a logical way to manage difficult feelings. 6. Never be afraid to seek professional help
