Sunflower Poem Collection By Year 7

Introduction
The Sunflower Poetry Project is our final unit for the year. We explored figurative language such as similes and personification, and how vivid adjectives can help readers visualise a poem. We also learned about the rules of writing poetry and discovered there aren't any rules! After writing our poems, we recorded ourselves reading them aloud with varying intonation, volume and pace. To give further meaning to our poems we have also illustrated them. We hope you enjoy reading our poems and amazing artwork.
Special thanks to Ms Reese.

he Standing Sunflow

Bu Pangeran Raja Kertawiguna
The steep, faraway meadows of Sunny Hills, Lies the most shiny of glimmering, tiny petals.
Far from city life and industrial metal, Belongs to I, the Standing Sunflower.
In the darkness, a ghastly moonlight brightens, Streaming a constant glow like my shiny petals. But all in moonlight, the new beginning shines, Giving for I, the Standing Sunflower.
As the sun rises, the moon falls like a fade of darkness, My colors bloom, the darkness in awe. O i i th f d

Cycle Of Life
By Maryam Azka Carina Alam

Us sunflowers as majestic as a waterfalls
Sleeping across the lovely vibrant garden.
Together forever all for one and one for all.
Being under she shiny warm sun as our friendship hardens.
Some of the sunflowers are rotting away.
My friends and family promised to stay strong. Sometimes I wonder how long I will stay.
But I must be as quiet as an angelic butterfly if we want to get along.
Tears hidden behind my pedals so they won’t see.
My best friend is gone my world is as cold as an igloo.
Depressed and lonely as a sunflower can be.
I’ve come to the realisation it’s the cycle of life.
Never forget even through the highs and lows sunflowers are as special as you.

Growing Sunflower
By Meiyi Zhu
I am a sunflower seed, I feel the fresh water everyday, And the sun feels really warm, I wonder how long I will be in here.
After days, I started to see the outside world, I am slowly growing up, I want to be like the shiny bright sun, I wonder how I will look like.
My flowered started to bloom as the sun cheers me, And I am slowly getting taller when the moon watches me, I want to be as cheerful as the sun and as enchanting as the moon, I really wonder how big and tall I am going to be.
After weeks and weeks with the fresh water and the vibrant sun, What a joyful, powerful and special sunflower I have become!

The Confusing Loved
By I-Saran Kanchitwatana
Two sunflowers in a store, They loved each other like sun loves dawn. Their golden faces brushed, it slays in shown.
One day, they both felt disappointed and dry. Suddenly, a new sunflower came into the store, She was so beautiful, like an angel, And colorful like a majestic sunset
A week later, the two sunflowers broke up, Their hearts broke into pieces of chocolate. Then happily the broken hearted sunflower, Fell in love again.

onely Duck
By I-Saran Kanchitwatana
My artwork was created using clay and it shows a duck poking their head through the sunflowers.

I made a duck face for my sunflowers because when I see a sunflower it makes me think of a duck and the cracking from the broken heart.

When the Sunflower Meets the Sun
By Jemma Anicia Mills
Everyday, I sit in a corner in despair,
While everyone got their pairs.
I am a dark, depressed sunflower, dead with no power, While the rest were as bright as a star in the sky.
No one could help me, even the wind, That just goes past as fast as lightning.
Then I see a vibrant, adventurous little girl, She shines brighter than me.
Even though I am the “sunflower”
The girl was way more like a sunflower than me.
While the girl runs so happily, I just feel so gloomy.
My only dream is to be free and lovely
Like every other sunflower, standing so beautifully.

The Face of the Sun
By Jemma Anicia Mills

My artwork was created by using wires, cardboard, clay, acrylic paint, fabric, coloured paper and yarn. It shows a girl that is based by a sunflower. Her long green hair looks like the leaves of the sunflower, and her yellow dress is inspired by the bright colour of the petals of a sunflower. Also she is standing on a “sunflower field” which makes it look like she is growing from the ground.

I Wish I Was Healthy Again

By: Abiha F Naqvi
I wish I was healthy again, daily watering with a cup. But now, look at me, all dried up.

A Sunflower needs some sun, of course. The vivid light is fun! But now, look at me, no light, no sun.
I’m feeling very weak. Am I getting old? Oh never mind it’s just very very cold.

I’m as dry as a desert, but as cold as the North Pole. My head is drooping down, I just want to go home.

The warm, vibrant, glistening light is what I need, Ever since I was a little, young, seed.

“Feelings In Bloom”
By Abiha Naqvi
My artwork was created using cardboard, hot glue and oil pastels. It shows how a sunflower can be used for different emotions. The swirls represent the emotions such as blue being sadness and yellow being happiness.
Lonely Sunflower
Majestic sunflower, golden like the sun, Beautiful, but, why are you the only one?
Behind your radiant smile you hide your tears, Wishing, hoping, that another sunflower will come near.
When in those glorious nights you sway in the wind, You do think about how your all alone, Oh, poor sunflower! All on your own.
When the night is over and you are thinking about a dream, You do see another sunflower, calm as a stream.
All you see is joy, but what you don’t see, Is that this sunflower is also looking at you in jealousy, What you don’t see is that this sunflower also hides its tears, Wishing, hoping, that another sunflower will come near.
Sofia Spahr

Three Sunflower Friends
For my artwork I used clay, acrylic paint and tinfoil. It shows a sunflower growing, and how different each stage is. The starting stage is the cow and the full grown sunflower is the duck.

The Golden Sunflower
By Aqilah Faqihah
A sunflower, is like a golden sun shining my eyes.
As the sunflower standing across the garden.
As I touch the garden, I water the plants.
As the sunflower grows like a human.
The wind comes and lets the sunflower dances.
The sunflower stops, as I was coming.
As I step back, my sunflower began to dances again with the wind.
As the sun comes it stops dancing.

A creaking door comes across the garden.
As I check outside at the garden.
A sunflower grows like a big doom.
As the sunflowers faces my room.
As the shapes looks like a face in a middle.
As I was looking at the sunflowers, it was looking at me and says; ‘water me ’ , water me ’ .
As the sunflower talks to me, I water the plants.
After I water the plants, it shines like a sun.

The Sunflower
By Jaden James Mills

The Sunflower, as beautiful as it looks, Which is as vibrant as the bright, morning Sun, It’s sunny leaves and sweet pollen, Makes the Sunflower beautiful, It’s seeds are crowded as a shopping mall, And florets tessellated like a mosaic, These things are eerie, Makes the Sunflower eerie,
The Sunflower stood up happily as if it is seen, Where it lingers in the beautiful forest.

Majestic Sunflower
By Fahad Alshami
Ah sunflower you have a majestic shine where all the bees gather in time too vibrant and colorful for me to see which blinds me with your beauty.

Sunflower, you have as many seeds as a sweet organic melon just as joyful for me to see just to gaze dawn and dusk on you majestic sunflower.
Majestic sunflower you glow so much just enough for me to see at night you look like an angel touching the ground we always gaze towards the milky which is just as bright and beautiful as you majestic sunflower.

The Sunflower That Make Us Smile
BY Auf Muhammad Umar

The sunflower so bright like the sun, Beautiful as other flowers ,
The son of god that creates a sunflower, Feels a joyful like a happiest man, A sunflower fresh as the air,

The sunflower is colorful as a rainbow, Sunflower always makes a wonderful day, Old sunflowers will be ugly and rejected,
The sunflower was yellow as a sun,
A sunflower majestic as a prince, The sunflower is healthy as a human.

The Ray of Sunflowers
By: Ahmad Zarief Bin Ahmad Akmal
The ray of the sunflowers shines so bright, Oh, it shimmers in the paths of fields alike, When dawn rises, the sky glimmers like so, Glimmering as radiant as the sun it glows, Idling in the ray of light as it falls below, Sunflowers huddled on a land of grass, Wondering when the sunflowers will glow, Waiting in suspense for the sunflowers to grow, As their beauties will come, Like most women and bloom, That radiant disarray of sunflowers, Will forever show.

The Sunflower Out of This World

By: Ahmad Zarief Bin Ahmad Akmal

My artwork was made using pencils and colouring.
This sunflower shows how when there’s a time, there’s a limit. It means when one star rises, the other one falls, one bringing light and one bringing darkness. But in one place in the world there is a place that always shines and that’s where sunflowers are supposed to brighten up/glee.

The Shy Sunflower
By Sheryl Felamona

I used origami paper, aluminum foil, clay, cardboard, and hot glue to make it. The front has yellow petals and a black center. The back has green leaves that look like the flower is hiding. The stem is made with foil and clay, and it’s a bit bent to make it look shy. I called it Shy Sunflower because it looks like it’s turning away.

The Miserable Sunflower
By: Insyirah Majolie Arnold
I was a lovely sunflower, So lovely that no one noticed I was in pain, Every day I feel miserable but no one seems to care, Each day passes, I keep thinking a sunflower is not who I am.
Sunflowers don’t feel miserable, I feel like Im just not meant to be a sunflower.
The pain feels like getting stabbed, The rain comforts me, each raindrop feels refreshing, My vibrant yellow face hides the pain in me,
Am I the only sunflower that feels this way?
Im starting to run out of time, My petals are falling like tears. Im starting to shrink more and more.

My artwork was made with clay, water, cardboard and acrylic paint.
This artwork shows an eye and also a sunflower because the sunflower sees the world differently and it doesn’t feel like it belongs with the other sunflowers. Like it was never meant to be a sunflower.

Sunflower Soul
By: Qisha Dania Binti Moahmmad kahirul Azri
The Golden sunflower lifts her head, The sunflower stands from her velvet bed, as tall as a knight she stands, swaying gracefully around the land,
Petals sharp as a thread, the sunflower looks upon the ray, the flower stands against the breeze. having the desire to be free, feeling the sweet honey streaming down, mad bees coming from a town, The flower wished to flee.

The Sunflower’s Life
by Pratosh Bahugana
Down beneath the soil, Rests a little seedling, Who has a dream to grow, Just like young popstar.
The seedling's fragile she’ll cracked, It hurts out like a balloon
Trying to stand up
But all there was dark soil
Finally he was released Soaring high like the sun He shall follow his almighty lord And be guided by him
His tiny flower head Growing, growing, growing
The flower faces the sun With his growing head
The sunflower spotted the sun
Growing with his best pals He finds the sun and bows Following him for the rest of his life
The flower has succeeded Bright yellow petals
Vivid colours and one triumphant Lord That is the only way to describe The sunflower's life

The Magical Sunflower
aneesha Kundu
The darkness was darker than the night sky
The day was brighter than the sun

No water was on me, I felt dry as a rock, At last, I became wet like the ocean I stood to attention The leaves on me danced, My brothers and sisters were proud, They gave me the most magical crown, They danced cheerfully

The most colorful petals came, Of all shapes and sizes, With vibrant leaves, The tiny seeds await, Just like you!

One of Many
By Nikita Singh
There I stand in a meadow of many,
Like golden rays they flash around me,
The warmth I feel worth less than pennies,

The sound of trees brushing by me,
Skies begin to darken as I look at the grapefruit moon,
The others in the garden, whistled a similar tune,

And when darkness raps itself like a blanket around me,
I feel a sense of uncertainty.
Again, all alone now, left to stand tall now,
My own petals begin to droop in sorrow,
Standing here, it’s all so clear,
Whilst I stare at the grapefruit moon.
One of Many
Ordinary

My artwork shows how an ordinary sunflower tries to stand tall in the journey of life. In my poem I have hinted in the human lifecycle. Through wire, this shows transparency yet loneliness of a sunflower.

Sunflower Blooms
by Ju Heon Lee
Sunflowers standing gloomy all day,
Brooding in the corner, watching all the kids play,
Jealousy drains the petty petal,
Jealousy turns to anger,
Brewing up so hot like a kindled kettle, Wants to take action but what to do, So many emotions can make a sunflower bloom,
The kids still laughing and running, They don’t know sunflowers are pretty cunning, It will have a breakthrough Just wait, just wait, It will happen soon.
Eirene’sScenery

I drew this with pencils, pen, colouring pencils and markers, I added shades to have more depth for it and wanted to make the design robust
I got the inspiration from a vase with sunflowers from my mother’s library, where I saw a beautiful vase full of sunflowers beaming in the sunlight

The Last Sunflower
By: Nadya Adriana Muhd Shahmun Azimin

In a field of gold beneath the sky Sunflowers stood so proud and high, They turned their faces to the sunlight.
And danced with joy from morning to night.

But near the field, in a house of gray, Lived Mr. Grumble, old and mean.
“I hate those flowers!” he would say “They smile too much in everyway!”

One stormy night, without a sound, He cut them all down to the ground. With angry hands and giant sharp scissors, He left the field where joy had died.

RAINY DAY
By Felipe Iada
Vibrant petals span across my brown center, flowing from left to right. Where the sun enters, like rain sliding down from the sky, my petals start to drop one by one.
As the Rain trickles down my delicate petals, I wonder: when will the sun settle back into my blue, blue sky?
As hundreds of seeds that fill my center begin to fall, I can only wonder what the sky will bring for the seedlings.
As the shiny sun peers above the clouds, I have finally fallen.
