Dear Parents and Friends of Sunderland We get to Covid Alert Level Two right on the school holidays here in Auckland, so at least parents and children will have some more freedom over this two-week break.
This is not a break for everyone however, Year Sixes and Nines have their Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations straight after the holidays and many Year Ten’s have their Combined Science Exam with the rest of the Seniors starting at this time too. Therefore, many students will be using some of the holiday period for revision. On that note, a vast majority of our staff will also be in at Sunderland offering a full suite of tutorials, covering most subjects over this period. I certainly encourage all students to attend. Thank you in advance to all those staff who are giving up their holidays to continue to support your children. We’ve spoken with the leader's numerous times over this term, I know there is a feeling of some disappointment that our usual celebrations here at Sunderland have not taken place this year. The Ball, Camps, Breakfast and Battle of the Bands all come to mind. I did need to remind them though, that no Sunderland student or parent has tested positive to Covid and all of you will be able to sit examinations at the end of this super challenging year and be able to carry on with their lives in 2021.
