WINGS NEWSLETTER Vol 17, Term One, Week Twelve, 16 April 2021 Dear Parents and Friends of Sunderland We have finally got here, to the end of the first term, through twelve teaching weeks, two lockdowns and an Easter break, too. The children are tired but in good spirits, and I know they are going to enjoy the break. I am so pleased that the weather was respectful of our Athletics Day this week, which had to be transferred from February. It really was a wonderful day, with our best ever participation and attendance levels. The competition was excellent too – with lots of personal bests and some records broken.

Again, we managed to have a full Primary and College competition taking place simultaneously, with our Year One and Year Two children starting just a fraction early to complete their events before the heat of the day. I wish to thank all the staff, who go beyond what is generally required to make this event the success it always is. The College Leaders and Sports Council are also fully committed behind the scenes, both before and after school to assist with the set-up and pack-down. And lastly, a huge thank you to Mr Baker from the Primary and Mr Keen for the College for their overall leadership and direction of the event. Well done to everyone involved! On Thursday, of this week the College Leaders had organised the ‘Kauri Clean Up’, where around forty students gave up their time after school to clean up of the kauri grove, plus a tidy-up the Steve Demanule Garden. Both of these spaces at the back of our school have important significance for the students and staff.

WINTER UNIFORM IS WORN IN TERM TWO
