Dear Parents and Friends of Sunderland
I think everyone has appreciated the return to face to face education, getting back to some real socialisation and getting back to some normality, albeit at Alert Level 2.5. Sunday’s announcement will be interesting – here at Sunderland we are planning on staying another week at Alert Level 2.5 and therefore, nothing really is changing our current regime. The only disappointment currently, is that there are no sports competitions. We are running all our regular practice sessions here at Sunderland, but because of the gathering restrictions outside of the school, sports competitions have been put on ice for the short term. Once there is a change in this process, your sports coaches and managers will be in contact.
We have been very pleased with the attendance levels in most areas of the school. From Monday, the College and Upper Primary have had over 90% attendance and with ‘Mock’ College examinations beginning today that is understandable. I know there has been a reluctance with some families to send their children back to school in the Lower Primary. We understand your concerns, but want to reiterate that Sunderland is a very safe place, and we have strict protocols in place to try and mitigate as many of the risks as possible.
