Peter Wood Dear Members, It is a big thank you to all of you who took part and voted in the recent AGM, it is so essential that you exercise your right to have a say in the Club, and we thank you for doing so.

I was asked why the Club needs to push so hard to have enough Members to participate and why we shouldn't change the rules. However, it is not something the Club can do, as government regulations lead us. But we will be reviewing this year if there is some smoother way to hold the elections.

Also, it was so good to receive your feedback on how well you liked the Member Appreciation Party, especially as it was just for you, the Members. It worked so well, and it is something that we will be repeating next year. It was so lovely to see the way Members were able to relax while enjoying the music, food and beverage offerings, and activities for the younger ones. Thank you for all your kind comments.

It is now the time of the year to participate in many of the Club's outside activities.

From May 1 - May 22 we have the annual Swim Challenge Plus Edition - 90KM IN 35DAYS, this is a popular event at the Club, and it is good to see Members continue to come back every year to try their hand and push themselves.

Also, at the same time, we have some seasonal Group Swim Classes, and we will be rolling out in May the Poolside F & B Service, so it will be a perfect time to come by the Club to enjoy yourself.

Another date for the diary is June 12, as we have the Inter-Club Squash Challenge. You may not know, but squash is one of the greatest sports.

Also, we will have big-screen viewing for the French Open and Wimbledon to make sure that you can gather with your tennis friends and have fun together while watching some of the best that tennis has to offer.

Mother's Day & Sigis

May does bring the all-important event to recognize those special people in the world. We will be celebrating International Mother's Day on May 8 with the popular Brunch with two seating's, Sigis BBQ, and other offerings throughout the Club.

We will also be continuing with the ever-increasing popular Sunday Set Menu in Sigis, Members comments are “it is such great value”, and we offer it for dinner as well. There are some options, but at the same time, it is easy to top up as required with a la carte menu items.

Wine Bazaar

Many Members have been asking when is the Wine Bazaar? We are pleased to announce that it is on May 22. This is a highlight for many of the wine lovers of the Club and when talking to some of you, I know you are creating room in your cellars to make sure you can take advantage of the many great offers available.

Graduation Season

We will again arrange graduation parties from the beginning of May to the end of July. We have a variety of combo offers, teacher gifts, and more, so please let us know if we can help you with this special occasion.

Pool Fun

Two fabulous pool events are coming up. May 29 is the Dragon Boat Battle, where we have the parent and child inflatable boat race, 2 on 2 Tug of War, and other skill challenges. The second is June 24, when we welcome back the popular Slide and Splash for the under 12's.

There really is a lot going on in your Club over the next couple of months, and I would like to let you know more, but I am running out of room to write, so please do make sure you go through the magazine and at the same time look at the weekly newsletter.

The Squash Community

Not only does squash develop friendships for Cullen, but it also creates a strong bond with his family. “When our kids were young, we spent a lot of happy family time playing squash games with foam balls. Two of the kids continued their interest and squash remains one of our favorite things to do together."

quash, the sport, not the vegetable, originated in England in the 19th century and is now, according to the World Squash Federation played in 188 countries and territories. One of the biggest squash championships will take place this year in Cairo, Egypt from May 14 to 22 - so this is a good moment to give some insights into the ACC squash community.

Member Daniel Cheung has played squash for 22 years and still enjoys playing. Squash is an important part of the club for him. “Squash and weight training are the only two events that I take part in the club. Squash is a big motivation for my membership.”

ACC has 2 high-quality squash courts, and the ProShop has ample squash equipment to purchase or borrow. The Club is also the venue host for the Taiwan National Squash Team as they train weekly in a couple months of the season and our Members play with inter clubs where ACC host a series of friendly matches. Interested Members of all levels and ages are most welcome to join the club's vibrant squash community. Watch the bulletin boards for other special events. The recent Squash Open House that was held on April 17 attracted over 20 kids. Attending the clinic from learning strokes in a group to individual plays that was guided by our coaches. Our children and parents also caught the Taiwan National players in action for an impressive exhibition match.

Cullen Welbourn has been a squash player for over 40 years and an ACC Member for over 20 years, including 15 years managing the ACC squash league. Cullen enjoys dining in the Club and attending other social events, but squash and the gym are his primary drivers for visiting the club. “My family uses other parts of the club a lot, but squash is the big part of my interest.” said Cullen. "I like to play 2 to 3 times a week. I train with coach Alan and join most of the squash events.
