ABUNDANT LIFE FAITH CENTRE

What does it truly mean to live a prosperous life? In a world where success is often measured by personal achievement and accumulation, the answer to this question isn’t obvious. Living a prosperous life, as revealed in the Word of God, flows from living according to divine principles. One of those principles is making God’s people your business and actively engaging in their lives.

The Bible assures us that "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them" (Hebrews 6:10). Helping others positions you for God’s attention. God takes it personal! every time you show acts of love towards the saints, and He rewards you for it.

God has invited you to embrace the needs of the saints as your own. When you do so, you are declaring that He can transform you into a distribution center of His grace. This principle works regardless of how much or how little you have! Having little shouldn’t prevent you from helping others. On the contrary, getting involved in the lives of those in need is the way to make your little much. As a distributor, the grace poured out on you will escalate to an entirely new level. This is God's intended mode of operation for us.

In this edition of the Hope Herald, you’ll discover stories and lessons that echo this divine principle. Testimonies and truths that will stir up your faith. Enjoy your reading journey as you explore these articles.

God’s Rest: The way to Abundant Life

Many believers can embrace the "abundant life" Jesus promised (John 10:10), rather than feeling worn out and merely "getting by." The key to truly enjoying each day lies in discovering and entering God's rest. This isn't just physical relaxation; it's a profound, spiritual peace that comes from knowing and trusting in God's completed work. It's a deep conviction that God has done everything necessary for our freedom, and because of His unchanging power, His finished work can be a reality in our lives. This spiritual rest means allowing God to carry the burdens of life, recognizing He has already given us everything needed for life and godliness through His grace, and not our endless toil.

God places profound importance on believers entering and living in His rest because it honours Christ's complete work on the cross, demonstrating our trust in His sufficient sacrifice for our salvation and reconciliation. This rest also allows us to reflect God's own nature of peace and completeness, mirroring His perfect being.

God desires us to experience the true abundant life promised in John 10:10. He knows that constant anxiety and striving lead to exhaustion; hindering the joy, peace, and fruitfulness He intends for us. Entering His rest prevents unbelief and hardness of heart from robbing us peace and victory. It fosters a deeper understanding of God’s unchanging character and faithfulness. This quiet dependence also creates space for profound intimacy and communion with Him.

Ultimately, resting in God is an act of deep faith and surrender; allowing His limitless power to work fully on our behalf. By stepping out of our own way, we demonstrate trust, invite His magnificent power and replace anxiety about the future with confident hope. It's a call to live by grace and fully enjoy God's rest; anchored in His love and good plans for a better tomorrow.

Ephesians 2:8-9 beautifully tells us we are saved by grace through faith. We live out our Christian walk in the exact same way! Jesus made the perfect sacrifice for us. Through our relationship with Him, we access God’s grace which enables us to do everything He calls us to do. It’s truly amazing to know that God is always with us, giving us His grace for every step of our lives. So, trust in God’s unconditional love for you today. Do the part you are supposed to do, and then confidently give Him everything else.

If you find yourself getting frustrated, stressed or overwhelmed, remember to Stop. Get your focus back on Him, and choose to enter into His rest once again. This is how you truly live the abundant life Jesus promised. It's about shifting from a life of frantic striving to one of joyful reliance on a God who "has done it all" and is “at work in you” with unstoppable power to experience His finished work. By embracing this truth through childlike faith and choosing to rest in His grace daily, believers can indeed experience the deep peace, confident assurance and abundant life Jesus desires for us.

Testimonies

Makindye, Kampala | Trevor glorifies the Lord for His faithfulness and enablement. He had a desire in his heart to settle down with his girlfriend. Things were not going as he planned. At times the couple got some challenges and they drifted apart. Despite this, he kept praying and asking the Lord to intervene. The Lord honored his faith; today he is married to the woman of his dreams.

At the beginning of the year, Renah (Trevor’s wife) participated in the Hallelujah Challenge. On a particular day she dressed up in what looked like a wedding gown back at home, and danced like her miracle had happened. She declared in faith that her wedding is done. A few months down the road, Renah witnessed this happen physically. Glory to God.

Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso | For many years Hannington and his wife suffered from different allergies. Together, they would spend their medical insurance treating allergies and sinusitis. Eventually they got operations to correct this condition. However, it didn’t completely heal. They were eventually referred to a specialist whom they would often visit when the symptoms would reoccur. This would come at a big cost. As they listened to the word of God, they began to seek Him on how to deal with this condition. They prayed over the matter and took a faith stand against it. It's been two solid years without visiting the specialist. The Lord healed them. Praise be to His name.

One late night, Hannington reached out to get a glass of water on a table; he slipped and fell down. When he rose up, he couldn't feel his right leg; next came excruciating pain in the same leg. The next day he was limping. "All this from a fall!!", he thought. While at home they massaged the leg with different oils to relieve the pain, but nothing worked. Seeing that his family was around, he asked that they gather and pray together about the issue. By morning the next day, the pain had disappeared. Hannington walked out of bed by himself. The Lord is surely wonderful!

Bible Lesson: Giving

A Bible lesson about giving can be learned from a hummingbird. Acts 20:35, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

I love to watch hummingbirds; they are so beautiful and amazing! They also are very special because God used them in a special way in my life during the time of losing my mother to cancer.

They are beautiful to watch, but their actions towards each other are anything but beautiful. Have you ever seen them fight? Around our feeder, there are usually about three, and they certainly do NOT know how to share. They are selfish little creatures!

Even today one was sitting on a nearby limb "guarding" the feeder. As soon as another came to drink, it swooped down and attacked, chasing the other away from "its" food.

Now, of course, this is part of their nature to survive, but it reminded me afresh that it is definitely not our nature as followers of Christ.

Are we ever like a hummingbird - busy flitting around beautiful on the outside, but only concerned with what we have and can achieve for ourselves?

Are we in the mindset of "me, me, me" and "mine, mine, mine" or do we follow the "J.O.Y." principle for priorities in our life - Jesus first, Others next, Yourself last.

I know I need to be reminded of this often, and was so thankful for this everyday Bible lesson God brought into my day!

Acts 20:35: "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

2 Corinthians 9:6-15: "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
