ABUNDANT LIFE FAITH CENTRE AUGUST 2022 EDITION

Editor’sNote

Do you find it beautiful how life unfolds? Life takes us through different stages that we experience as individuals. First, there is the morning stage, when one is born and they are only a child. Then there is afternoon stage, where the child grows to a youth. He is able to discern and make decisions. Lastly is the evening stage, here one has matured into an adult. Every stage comes with its advantages and challenges. There is no denying that one is physically strongest in their youth stage. The youthful years are a perfect time to expend your strength for the Lord. The Bible says, “It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke [of godly discipline] in his youth” (Lamentations 3:27, AMP). We also see, from the Bible, God calling some of His servants in their youthful years. Samuel, the prophet, heard the voice of God at a young age (1 Samuel 3). David, the youngest of his siblings, slew Goliath and rescued his nation in his youth.

A Note From The Editors

Likewise, serving the Lord early helps establish us throughout life. We read in Psalm 90:14, “Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!” The word of God is able to shape our destiny and make us wise. Look at king Solomon: He sought the Lord very early and because of that, his kingdom did not know war for wisdom reigned in his time. Heed these examples and watch to see their results manifest in your life. Journey with us as we spread the good news of the Lord’s goodness in the truths and testimonies shared in this edition. We believe that these will shade hope in your life. For if God did it for these individuals, He surely can turn your situation around. Just hold on to hope and faith as you await your victory. We’d love for you to visit our church family. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30pm and Sundays at 10:00am, Join us as we dine together at the feet of the Master! We are waiting for you. In the world – the lifestyle of those without God and without hope – people labour to ‘earn a living’. In the kingdom of God – the lifestyle of those in covenant with God – people labour to develop and grow their confidence in God’s sufficiency.

Confidence in God’s sufficiency is the way to graduate from a life of pain and toil. When you know that you are fully taken care of regardless of how much work you do, work takes on a different meaning. You stop working for survival and you start working for results.

Jesus is the best example of what it means to work for results. Nowhere in the Bible do you find Jesus weighed down and burdened by the demands of life and ministry. Yes, He got physically tired and even hungry but never worried about the needs of His life and ministry.

the difference between Jesus and us? The explanation is simple: Jesus focused His attention and energy on labouring to enter into the rest of God. He did not direct His energy on trying to figure out how to meet the needs of His life and ministry by Himself. His confidence in God’s sufficiency for His welfare allowed Him to concentrate His spiritual and mental energy on listening and watching out for God’s instructions on how to successfully handle the moments of life. That strategic choice of where to direct His attention, in turn, triggered the release and flow of God’s power to meet the needs in His life and ministry. Is it possible for us to follow Jesus’ example? Do we even have the scriptural right to follow Jesus’ example? Yes, we do! We have a personal invitation from Jesus for us to follow His example: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28– 30, HaveKJV). the burdens of life left you fainthearted and weary? Are you looking for a way to escape from a fainthearted and weary life? If so, you qualify for Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28–30. All it takes is two simple steps: go to Jesus (in the Bible and in prayer) and be His student – study His saying and approach to life. Many of us however go about life and ministry not only physically tired and worn-out but also fearful and tensed about what to do with the needs in our lives and ministry. Jesus on His part was able to maintain his calm and joy despite the many demands on His life and Whatministry.explains

Here is good news you won’t find in your daily newspaper – God has planned a life of rest for you! The rest we are talking about is special because it does not depend on whether or not you are sweating on a job. It is rest that goes together with labour – labour as God planned it.

July 2022, Entebbe, Wakiso; Hope acknowledges the Lord’s faithfulness. At the beginning of the year, one of the prayer points she wrote down was to have no more debts in her financial life. In the past, she had easily accessible avenues to borrow money like the salary advance and low rate community pools. These seemed harmless but she accumulated a lot of debt overtime. As 2022 begun, the Lord placed it on her heart that she did not have to have debts. To this she agreed but the pressure was on to borrow and do more as well as cover her pending needs. But the Lord kept telling her, “no debts.” Whenever she thought to borrow one last time, she would hear words of caution from the pastors. They preached saying, “don’t give in to lusts”. Other times they prayed over the congregation and said, “no more debts.” This carried her in those times when she was pressed to borrow. It helped her harken to the voice of the Lord. He impressed on her heart the scripture where Prophet Elisha encountered a widow who had debts (2 Kings 4). The Lord revealed to her that the borrowed vessels in the Scriptures should represent her debt portfolio. Then He gave her a strategy to use the little money she was generating in her house to pay up her debts (filling every vessel). This took her time as the process was slow but she learnt to be patient. She visited the Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ website and picked out a prayer of petition template for financial help. The scripture that the Lord had given her was part of that prayer. She then prayed, wrote her petition, signed it and addressed it to God. She testifies that as of the third week of July 2022, all her vessels were full. She is totally debt free. Glory to God.

July 2022, Namusela, Wakiso: Miriam narrates how during one overnight service, Dr. Handel Leslie called out her name about three times. He gave her this word of knowledge. He said “the Lord has visited your family and He is going to amaze you and make you smile.” In her heart she received this word and welcomed the Lord into their family. Miriam pondered on these words throughout the service. Following biblical examples like Abraham and Samson’s mother that the Lord visited, she prepared a sacrifice of celebration in anticipation of this visit. During that time, the church was building a perimeter wall and she decided to bring her sacrificial seed towards this. After two weeks, a friend offered their family her house for them to live in at no cost. They lived there about three years. In that time, the Lord favored her family and they were able to build a house suited to their desires. Today, they live in their own house that is fully furnished. God surely visited them. Praise be to His name forever. 3 Here lies an opportunity to bless someone with the gospel that is able to make them wise unto salvation. Join the ALFC family for the September 2022 Mission Week. The youthful stage is one full of life, vibrancy and energy. It is one of the most enthralling stages in our Life. It’s a stage when we dream and have hope for our bright future. At this stage one must make a commitment and choose to devote their energy to serve God. We must choose to give our hopes and dreams to God as He has the ability to make them a reality. Psalms 119:9-16 is a scripture that beckons young people to walk in the path of life, the way of righteousness and purity. This is possible if their ways are devoted to living according to God’s word, meditating on it and delighting in His law and statutes.

July 2022, Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso: David had always wanted to go back to school. In the year 2020, he decided to upgrade despite his financial standing. At school, it was a requirement to pay seventy percent of the tuition fees before he could enroll. His savings couldn’t make up to that magnitude. He cried out to God for help and He came through for him. When he presented what he had, they let him start school. Shortly after, COVID-19 broke out and he was stopped from reporting to work. This hurt his situation. But God still provided for him during that time and he continued to study. David also thanks God who protected him, he didn’t fall sick during the outbreak. In his last semester, David ran out of funds yet he had to sit his final examinations. He inquired of the Lord what to do. In the process, he felt led to speak with the principal about the matter. After looking through his past payments and financial statements, the principal granted him permission to do the exam. He was so amazed and perplexed that the principal repeated himself. God made a way for him!! He passed well and recently graduated. He also received a salary increment at his place of work. Glory to God!

Sometimes we have a dream and we are sure it is from God. As a result of this knowledge, some people think the journey to their dream will be smooth sailing with no hiccups. But that is a lie many people believe! The moment such people hit their first obstacle, they doubt and quickly rationalize their thinking. They start to think that maybe they did not hear from God in the first place. The story of Joseph in the Bible that starts off in Genesis 37 speaks very well into this. Even with a God given dream, Joseph faced so much opposition. Including being sold to slavery, being made a house help and being cast into prison for a crime he did not commit before the dream he had years ago materialized. Yet he still did not cast his hope away. Here lies a lesson for us – never give up on your Dream!

Joseph was about 17 years when he had his first God-given dream, and about 30 years when he interpreted Pharaoh's dream – an experience that catapulted him into the prominence in line with his dream. We notice that he had to wait for almost 13 years for the fulfillment of what God had revealed to him. Let us be honest, that was a very long time! By that time many, many of us would have walked away and moved onto other things. That is what it feels like for many things in our lives. Because it is of God, we sometimes think it will happen immediately yet there is a waiting process. This waiting time is very important because God uses it to shape us, mold us and fit us into the dream He’s shown us. Before becoming the second in command to Pharaoh where he was in-charge of people and property, Joseph had to learn how to manage property in Potiphar’s house. He had to learn leadership of people in prison. Sometimes we are so unready and unfit from a heavenly perspective, and in such cases waiting time becomes crucial. Do you feel like you have waited for long? Could it be that God is developing something in you that will be fit and just right for when that time comes? Of course walking with God will help us differentiate between delay that is from the enemy which we have to rebuke and that which is from God and which we have to take full advantage of. The ‘delay’ that’s designed by God allows Him to shape us for the future that His glory may be seen through us and that nations may be preserved. Joseph. K
