Family Support Network By: Pastor Jay Gamelin
“When you look around in our community, what are the challenges you see families facing? This was the question we addressed at our first Family Life Team meeting. This is a team made of new dads caring for newborns, moms of teenagers, empty nesters, and grandparents who have come together to dive into our vision for the Family Support Network. We discussed the amount of stress in our homes and the level of anxiety in our children. We shared the internal pressure to perform and the external reality of a confusing world. We were brought to tears as we shared in the deep pain we have for those families who are truly struggling. It is our hope to tackle big ideas and help bring life and support to families, both traditional and non-traditional, here at Abiding Hope and in the community. We are just in the initial steps of assimilating the effort brought to us last Spring via our Strategic plan for a Family Support Network, and feel called to this work that this is real-life. We ask for your prayers as we finalize our plans to bring this ministry to life. This spring you will likely receive a survey from the team asking for your input on the kinds of support you need or can provide. Your participation would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to this community and their deep care for our families at Abiding Hope, Littleton, and beyond. 29
