Es handelt sich hierbei um stillgelegte Eisenbahntrassen, die für Spaziergänger, Jogger, Radfahrer und Reiter in ‚Öko-Wege‘ umgewandelt wurden. Motorisierte Fahrzeuge sind verboten und alle Pfade sind offen zugänglich, eben und geeignet für Menschen jeder Altersgruppe und physischen Verfassung. Bequemes flaches Schuhwerk (auch Turnschuhe) reichen aus, da die Oberflächenbeschaffenheit der Strecke sehr gut ist. Die ‘Via Verde’ zwischen Manacor und Artà bietet eine abwechslungsreiche Landschaft (manchmal zeigt sich in der Ferne sogar das Meer) und es gibt die Möglichkeit, Abstecher zu sehenswerten Orten zu machen oder um kleine Stärkungen einzunehmen. In Sant Llorenç, Son Carrio und Son Servera führt der Weg an restaurierten alten Bahnhofsgebäuden vorbei, die auch gut als Start- oder Endpunkte genommen werden können, da es dort ausreichend Parkplätze in der Nähe gibt. Entlang des Weges findet man hilfreiche Hinweistafeln, sechs Rastplätze zum Picknicken mit Tischen, Bänken und Mülleimern (leider ohne sanitäre Anlagen) und mehr als 15.000 Sträucher und 5.000 neu gepflanzte Bäume.
