Asourfirstshowoftheyear,we'reproudto featureworkfromourvaluedAssociate Artistmembers.Thisyearwechangedthe processtoenableartiststojoinasAA members.WeareevaluatingtheAA membercandidates'workandeachand everyAAmemberwillhavebeenjuriedinto theorganization.Inthepast,AAmemberswerenotjuriedin.
ThisisalsoanimportantcommemorativeyearforAAPL,asit'sour95th anniversary!JusttogiveyoualittleAAPLhistory,FrederickBallardWilliams, anAmericanlandscapeandfigurepainter,wasthefirstpresidentoftheAAPL, havingfoundedtheorganizationin1928.Heisbestknownforhisdecorative andidyllicscenesoftheNewEnglandlandscape.AmemberoftheNational AcademyandpresidentofTheSalmagundiClub,Williamswasaninfluential figureinthepromotionof20th-centuryartinAmerica.ThefirstAAPLmeeting washeldattheSalmagundiArtClubonJanuary29,1928.Almost100years later,AAPLcontinuesitsmissiontosupportrepresentationalartinAmerica.
OursincerethankstopastelpainterJasonChangforservingasawardsjuror forthisshow.ChangstudiedatTheSchoolofVisualArts,theCollegeofNew Rochelle,andearnedhisMastersDegreeinStudioArt.Throughouthiscareer hehastaughtattheNationalAcademyofFineArts,theCollegeofNew Rochelle,thePastelSocietyofAmericaSchoolofPastel,theNationalArts ClubandtheGoldenEagleInstitute.Heconductsworkshopsbothnationwide andinAsia.ChanghasbeenaccordedthehonorofMasterPastelistbythe PastelSocietyofAmerica.HeisalsoaSignatureMemberoftheAmerican ArtistsProfessionalLeague,andhaswonawardsinseveralGrandNational Exhibitions,mostrecentlyforBestPastelinthe94thGNE.Healsoholds membershipsinAlliedArtistsofAmericaandAudubonArtists.Hisworksarein bothprivatecollectionsandhavebeenpurchasedbyseveralmuseums.
