Support the AALAS Foundation! “Racing for Research” Contest T
he “Racing for Research” contest challenges contestants to creatively paint/decorate a wooden 11” horse! The contest includes four categories: Individual, Corporate, Branch, and Institution or Organization. A winner will be selected from each category. Additionally, a “Best of Show” winner will be selected by members of AALAS leadership, and a “Fan Favorite” will be awarded to the entry whose photo receives the most likes in the “Racing for Research” contest photo gallery on the AALAS Foundation’s Facebook page. All winners will be announced and awarded at the AALAS Foundation’s Appreciation Reception, held October 26, 2022, at the AALAS National Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. “Celebrate the Monkey” Alzheimer’s’ Disease Awareness Lapel Pin! The AALAS Foundation is excited to announce that it has developed a “Celebrate the Monkey” lapel pin this year – recognizing the monkey and its role in Alzheimer’s Disease research. Anyone making a $5.00 or more in-person donation at the AALAS Foundation booth during the National Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, will receive a “Celebrate the Monkey” Alzheimer’s Disease awareness lapel pin.
Silent & Live Auction
The AALAS Foundation is excited to bring back its in-person Silent Auction, but we need your help! Not sure what to donate? Items that always prove popular are animal-related gifts, event tickets, jewelry, gift baskets, gift certificates, hotel getaways, travel packages, sporting goods & memorabilia, unique items from your area, and of course, the latest electronics. If you would like to donate, go to the AALAS Foundation page on our website to pledge your auction item donation. Auction donation pledges received by August 15th will be recognized in the AALAS National Meeting Final Program. Alternatively, you may drop off your auction item donation at the AALAS Foundation Silent Auction Booth in Louisville, KY, beginning Sunday, October 13, 2022. Please email a photo of your auction donation to foundation@aalas.org so it may be included in our Auction photo gallery on our Facebook page. The Appreciation Reception is always a fun and lively event. This year’s Appreciation Reception theme is a “Kentucky Derby Party,” so plan on wearing your favorite big hat and horse race attire and join us for an incredible evening! The money raised through the annual contests and auctions help support the AALAS Foundation and its mission. The Foundation’s mission is to inform the public about the important role of animals in research and to educate the public about all the compassionate professionals that work in the laboratory animal science field.
