To celebrate tech week, Northwestern provided free 10-minute massages to all the technicians and staff via a trained masseuse. The massage environment was calming and relaxing with soothing music and aromas. It was a great way for the technicians to unwind and de-stress from the hard work that everyone has been providing throughout the pandemic. Massachusetts General Hospital, Center for Comparative Medicine – Charlestown, MA
We celebrated 2022’s Tech Week using the AALAS promoted theme “Technicians bridge the gap to research.” This year we took more of a low-key approach due to the ongoing pandemic and staffing shortages, but we still managed to have fun. Activities included personalized treat bags, trivia on CCM TV’s, daily raffles, lunch from Boston’s North End, and thank you videos which included messages from our researchers. As always, staff were acknowledged by the CCM Animal Care Director and the Institutional Official of MGH Research, for the role that they play in the advancement of medical breakthroughs specific to the MGH program. Activities are organized by the departments Committee on Appreciation, Recognition and Education (known as the CARE Team), who surveyed the staff after Tech Week. The vast majority felt appreciated, and many offered great suggestions for an even better event next year! Submitted by Laura Vanparys.
