“My multifamily industry journey began 4 years ago, It feels like just yesterday. A mere 4 years ago I was fresh into my role as a leasing professional with absolutely no experience nor history in the field. Like most of us, I sort of just fell into it! I started out as a leasing professional and completely fell in love with property management. I began to invest in my professional development and fine-tuning my professional skills. I excelled in my role, and in 1 year I was promoted to Assistant Community Manager. Attending AAGO courses played a huge part in my professional development, and I learned knowledge is certainly power in every sense of the word. Attending AAGO courses helped me excel in my role and my work was immediately recognized by peers and leadership. I believe the turning point in my career was attending the Future Leaders Training and Speed mentoring event where I was able to network and meet dynamic leaders in the property management Industry. Amongst the Greats, I met my marvelous mentor Lori Agudo- Director of Training and Development at Royal American. Having met Lori gave me the opportunity to acquire a wealth of knowledge & support. She pushes me to be my best self. I will be forever grateful to AAGO for facilitating this networking opportunity. It was classes like Landlord-Tenant Law and The Art of Delegation that helped me develop and strengthen my knowledge in property management. AAGO has helped me build confidence in my decision-making in day-today operations. Before I knew it, I was promoted to Community Manager in 2021. What a privilege to manage a million-dollar asset and achieve success for investors! I was given the task of protecting a 172-unit asset by overseeing quality maintenance of the property, risk management, daily operations, ensuring timely project completion, and Fair Housing compliance. My goal as a Community manager is to provide a quality living experience to all residents, both current and prospective. I hire, train, and motivate staff to surpass assigned goals and promote a healthy and high morale work environment. I was eager to understand every facet of my new role in order to provide my team, company, and residents with the best possible results. I signed up for the CAM, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! CAM helped me fully understand every aspect of my role and how to achieve success. With the knowledge acquired from CAM, I was able to exceed budgeted NOI, recognition for lowest delinquency in the region, and praise for great compliance files all in under my first year as Community Manager. I value teamwork, leadership, and the ability to shape each day through positive interactions. AAGO unleashed my passion for training and development, and I knew this is where I was meant to be. I am now working towards my next goal of becoming a Corporate Trainer, my mission is to help and educate others to achieve each one of their goals!
