What’s a Political Action Committee Anyway?
The Importance of Political Action Committees And why you should support ours. And why you should support ours.
A well-supported political action committee (PAC) is a crucial component of industry advocacy efforts. If you have been involved in any of our local, state (Florida Apartment Association), or federal (National Apartment Association) advocacy initiatives, that statement is probably familiar to you.
Broadly speaking, a political action committee (PAC) is a group formed by an industry or an issue-oriented organization that raises funds to support campaigns of candidates that align with an industry's or organization's priorities. Federal PACs, like the National Apartment Association Political Action Committee (NAAPAC), are governed by the rules of the Federal Election Commission and state PACs, like the Florida Apartment Association's Apartment Political Action Committee (APAC), are governed by state campaign finance law. Put simply, our PACs give our industry a collective voice for action, and with the 2022 Election Cycle just around the corner, having the ability to support candidates who support the industry is more important than ever. This year, we are encouraging our entire membership to make a contribution and support industry advocacy efforts. Make your PAC contribution today!
