We salute all of the 2024 American Advertising Awards winners represented in this book. This book not only shares the work that has been recognized by our panel of judges this year; it also demonstrates the scope and scale of the communications and creative industry based in our city.
Memphis is a remarkably unique location that is to be appreciated across many strata - creativity has historically been at the forefront of our culture and will prove to be one of our most impactful resources in the future.
We thank all contributors.

Jazmine Burrell
HEAD OF STRATEGY
Jazmin Burrell is a seasoned strategic leader in both the tech and creative worlds. With tenures at creative agency powerhouses from McCann, 72andSunny to Spike DDB, she's worked with some of the world's most recognizable brands to create award-winning and impactful work with purpose and insight. In the tech space, she served as a senior creative strategist at Snap Inc. creating world-class campaigns on the platform that drew attention from Vanity Fair, Vogue, AdWeek and The New York Times just to name a few.
Her contributions to the creative world have led her to be recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 lister, The Drum Future 50, a judge for D&AD, and as a nominee for ADCOLOR's Rising Star award and a guest speaker at many conferences and shows.
Rick Ardito
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Rick Ardito started off in advertising in 1999 at Cliff Freeman & Partners, as an Art Director, then at BBDO as an SCD. Rick worked on clients like FedEx, Guinness, Red Stripe, DirecTV, Monster.com and Pepsi until 2009 when the economy got sick and died. Rick then freelanced a lot. But unlike most freelancers, Rick produced his freelance work and won awards for that freelance work. Which is to say, Rick is an awardwinning freelancer.
In 2017, Rick started working at McGarryBowen as North American Executive Creative Director on American Express. Rick ran the Amex account and launched their first ever Global Campaign in the whole of Amex’s 165 year history.
Rick stopped working at McGarrybowen in 2019 and has been freelancing and producing work ever since.
Stace Caseria
FOUNDER/CREATIVE DIRECTOR
A writer by trade, Stace Caseria is a recovering pessimist who, after 20 years of working in the industry, still believes in simple ideas.
Stace founded his agency, Trust Deep, to help brands create long-lasting loyalty by showing themselves worthy of customers’ trust. He’s had the honor of contributing to brands like Delta Air Lines, Panasonic, Cadillac, Heineken, Vail Resorts, Bose and so many others. Before that, he wrote for MAD Magazine which nearly ruined his prospects of working a real job.
MATT BOGARD
ADVERTISING CREATIVE DIRECTOR / ART & DESIGN
Matt is an award-winning creative based in NYC with over 20 years of experience across traditional, digital, and experiential agencies. Along the way, he’s honed the art of selling ideas with finesse, earning client trust, and revitalizing iconic Americana brands. Driven by a passion for creativity and design, Matt believes these two forces can solve even the trickiest business challenges.
From building brand awareness to crafting immersive experiences and culturally relevant solutions, he’s brought big ideas to life for brands like American Express, AMD, Dove, Fisher-Price, Crayola, and the NBA. With a unique ability to adapt in the ever-evolving marketing landscape, Matt thrives on helping brands connect with people in a way that’s both meaningful and results-driven.

About Monster Market—
Monster Market is a designer's dream for lovers of the weird, the whimsical, and the wonderfully spooky. In year eight, the campaign is still bold, immersive, and irresistibly fun. Their approach to social is just as captivating as the art direction–the Event Promotions feel fresh and I just want to dive into the Maker Spotlights and Lookbooks. What makes it even better is the way it shines a spotlight on an independent local artists’ community, giving them a platform and an event to showcase their darkly charming work. The whole vibe? Dark magic.
Monster Market is a curated pop-up retail event featuring dark art, strange apparel, bizarre decor, and odd collectibles. all sourced from artists, makers, and small independent brands.

I chose this film for a number of reasons. One that stood out for me was Col. Black's ability to put me in the cockpit along with him. Not in an emotionally-charged or dramatic explanation of what someone punching at death’s door was going through, but a layman’s concise explanation of the real danger he was experiencing. I also like how, aside from all his skills as a fighter jet pilot, Col. Black thanked a higher power for pulling him out of that spin. The graphic elements were simple, cool and smart, and they complimented Col. Black’s words. The editing was solid and the sound mix was pro. I also liked how Col. Black said, “Alright, ready to roll?” to start us all off.
Just a badass fighter jet pilot talking about the day he very nearly died.

I chose this entry for my Judge’s Choice Award because it’s fun and original. The bold, folk-art-inspired illustrations feel warm and nostalgic for the holiday season. The use of wood as a substrate, and the fact that it is oversized make it an original gift. The copy "probably way too big" pokes fun at itself and showcases brand personality. The packaging is smart and low key, with typography that’s playful and well executed. It’s a perfect example of how great design can elevate something as simple as a holiday ornament.

The copywriting and narrative felt effortless for the most part. A lot of "advertising poetry" goes very wrong since us ad writers aren't necessarily poets. The concept was very interesting -- and demonstrates the agency's understanding of shopper marketing. And it was interesting stuff the whole way through! It took industry concepts like hierarchy of needs and put a fun, relevant spin on them.
t Archer, we say: let the Naughty run free, Their splurges and whims spark holiday glee. They binge without guilt, they shop without pause, Fueling your profits while breaking no (well, almost no) laws.

We all started as students in some form or fashion. We approached ideas and problems with curiosity and inquisitiveness, and in our industry we use the tools of creativity to express ideas, influence perspectives, and keep creativity alive and hopefully we are all applying those same attributes of discovery as we progress in our field. We are particularly pleased to honor the terrific body of student work that is being recognized in Memphis this year. Keep up the great work, Memphis.

WE CONNECT, UPLIFT, AND AMPLIFY THE VOICES OF ALL MEMBERS OF OUR MEMPHIS ADVERTISING COMMUNITY.
AAF Memphis is a not-for-profit professional association dating back to 1948. We serve as our city’s local chapter of the American Advertising Federation—the nation’s oldest national advertising trade association—and operate within the federation’s seventh district.
AAF Memphis’ membership roster includes the full spectrum of marketing communications specialties, including ad agencies, branding firms, in-house marketing departments, creative boutiques, media, production service providers, researchers and independent or freelance specialists. Our club provides regular meetings featuring top-tier industry speakers, professional development, and networking opportunities.
