jonathan woolf architects 1. Jonathan Woolf Jonathan Woolf architects is an award winning international architectural practice, established in 1991 and working throughout Europe and Africa. Its work ranges from private houses and apartment buildings through to arts, educational, commercial buildings and interiors. In constructing beautiful environments we believe in the vitality of the relationship of tradition to innovation. Jonathan Woolf began his practice in 1990 with the widely published Ijaz apartment and at the same time winning two international design competitions, one for urban redevelopment in Dublin and the other for office furniture systems for the next century. These set out the basis for a substantial body of over 35 completed projects to date including houses, artist and photographers studios, offices, apartments and hotels. The practice has full Professional Indemnity insurance and is a member of both the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Architects Registration Board.

Collaborative Work | The practice has collaborated with designer Bharat Patel on several commercial and private residential projects. France | The practice have since 1995 a working partnership with Paris based practice Barthelemy Grino Architects with a substantial portfolio of projects from large scale housing to public libraries , sports buildings as well as retail developments for fashion house Louis Vuitton. Kenya | The practice has been working on private work in kenya since 2008, with two projects on site which are due to complete by 2014. JWA are currently working on a public building project with ARUP together with engineers, surveyors and landscapers based in Nairobi City.

Jonathan Sergison Jonathan Sergison graduated from the Architectural Association in 1989 and gained professional experience working for David Chipperfield and Tony Fretton. In 1996 he established Sergison Bates architects in London with Stephen Bates. The practice works at different scales and their projects range from urban planning to public buildings and housing. Several of their projects have received awards and the practice's work has won international recognition with the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal and the Erich Schelling Medal for Architecture in 2006. Their work was shown at the British Pavilion at the 2008 Venice Biennale, and in 2012 they were invited to curate an exhibition on social housing, 'Feeling at home', as part of the 2012 edition. In 2010 the practice opened a studio in Zurich. Jonathan Sergison has taught at a number of schools of architecture, including the Architectural .......................................... Association in London, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, the École Polytechnique Fédérale (EPFL) in Lausanne, the International University of Catalunya (ESARQ) in Barcelona and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He is currently Professor of Architectural Design at the Accademia di Architettura at Mendrisio, Switzerland. In addition to his academic commitments, he lectures widely, has served on a number of prestigious international juries, and writes regularly on architecture. 3. Stephen Bates Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1989 and gained professional experience in London and Barcelona, he established Sergison Bates architects in 1996 with Jonathan Sergison. Based in the London office he is jointly responsible for the creative direction of the practice and closely involved in the development of all projects from inception to completion. He has taught at a number of schools of architecture, including the Architectural Association in London, was Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne (EPFL), the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura (ESARQ) and the Universidad Internacional de Catalunya (UIC/ETSAB) in Barcelona, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Since 2009 he has been Professor of Urbanism and Housing at the Technische Universität in Munich. Through the development of numerous projects and his teaching role at TU Munich, he has explored the practical and theoretical aspects of city-making and domesticity and written extensively on the various issued connected with the relationship between the two scales. He has been a member of various Design Review Panels in London and has served on many international architectural competition juries, including the Iberian ..................................... Premis FAD, the Stirling Prize in the UK and the Belgian Prize for Architecture .... 4. Mark Tuff Based in the London office, Mark oversees the management of the practice, supervising the work of project architects and providing guidance on technical design and project procedure. Mark contributes to the creative direction of the practice, and through his close involvement in the development of a wide range of projects from inception to completion he has explored the practical and theoretical aspects of construction in great depth. He graduated from the University of East London and worked for Feilden Clegg before joining Sergison Bates architects in 1996. He has been guest critic and lecturer at numerous schools of architecture in the UK and abroad, including Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH, Zurich and the Universidade Autonoma de Lisboa.
