On September 25th, the Club welcomed Emily Post's great great grandchildren Lizzie Post and Daniel Post Senning to a luncheon celebrating the 100th anniversary of Emily Post's famous book, Etiquette.
Many know that it was Emily's father, Bruce Price, who developed Tuxedo Park with Pierre Lorillard IV in 1886
In a conversation moderated by member and New York Times Reporter Katie Rosman, over 70 guests enjoyed learning more about etiquette in the modern age and the life of Emily Post, which began in Tuxedo Park

Folds of Honor awards educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces The organization supports school tuition or tutoring in grades K 12, as well as post secondary tuition (two or four year college/university, technical or trade school)
Since 2015, we have been proud to host an annual tournament to benefit this important cause. Each year, more than 25 five person teams that include a military service member (generally from West Point), a PGA Professional from a local area club, and a combination of members and guests compete and participate in our silent auction to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation
On September 21st members and their guests were treated to an evening with famed golf course architect Rees Jones Alongside Rich La Bar and Bryce Swanson, Rees answered questions about the club's extensive course renovation which included the creation of a new short game practice area, a new 9th hole, the renovation of all fairway and greenside bunkers, and the re grassing of all necessary green surrounds
Many will know that is was Rees Jones' father, Robert Trent Jones, Sr , who created the original design for our current course.
Said Rees: When I was younger, I remember my father's excitement when he was given the opportunity to design the golf course for The Tuxedo Club, It has been an honor for Bryce and myself to work with such an historic club. I know my dad would be proud to see how the restored course honors the spirit of his original design from 1957
A big thanks to Board members Jay Mottola and Keith Kucinski for creating such a special evening at the Club.
The Tuxedo Club hosted the country's first interclub match in the summer of 1894, when a seven man team from Shinnecock Hills came to compete This laid the groundwork for a contest of a greater scale later that October, when six teams, two each from Tuxedo and St Andrew's, and one each from Shinnecock Hills and The Country Club (Brookline) competed in a Quadrangular Match.
Interestingly, the trophy presented to The Country Club in that first year was donated to the U S G A and is now the formal award for the U S G A Senior Open Championship The Francis D. Ouimet Memorial Trophy.
On March 23, 1982, The Tuxedo Club’s former Chairman of the Governing Committee, Brian A Sichol, sent a letter to the respective Chairmen of the three prestigious clubs as an invitation to renew this Quadrangular match
Tuxedo again hosted the Matches which have been held annually ever since Newport Country Club joined in 1989 and over the years, hundreds of team members have enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship the friendly competition fosters
This year, the 1894 Matches were played at Newport Country Club where the Tuxedo Team took top honors
A big congratulations to Team Tuxedo!
