MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
Ron Fuerst, Megan Hayes, Paul Lerch and Margie Sung, Membership Co-Chairs
Katie Gaertner, Director of Membership & Marketing
Membership
We would like to start our message by thanking our membership for your support over the last year Those who sponsor candidates for membership and for Oak Leaf and Acorn privileges are directly responsible for the financial strength and vibrancy of our Club Thanks to you, our membership make up is strong, and continues to grow here at Tuxedo.
Dues Revenues
We look closely throughout the year at the drivers that impact the Club’s dues revenues In Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) the largest dues revenue drivers were as follows:
Positive Drivers
The addition of 29 Regular Members from our Oak Leaf/Acorn Program
The addition of 26 Oak Leaf/Acorn Privilege Holders
Oak Leaf/Acorn renewal rate of 85% vs. goal of 75%
Oak Leaf/Acorn conversion rate of 86% vs. goal of 75%
Two member transfers into the Regular Membership category
Negative Drivers
Seventeen members left the Regular Membership category to go to a lesser dues paying category (i e Non-Resident)
Two Regular Members resigned
Two Regular Members sadly passed away
Our Oak/Leaf Acorn program continues to be the most successful driver of Regular Members, which is our largest positive driver of dues revenue Ongoing candidate introductions are critical to ensure our Oak Leaf/Acorn program continues to drive membership We encourage all members to introduce family, close friends and colleagues to the Club
New Membership Categories
To give those individuals who do not live within 75 miles of the Club increased opportunities to join our Club, we formalized two new membership categories – National and Non-Resident Acorn, both of which are proving fruitful.

Marketing
With the goal of raising awareness about our Club with appropriate audiences, in FY25 we strategically focused on outreach to reciprocal Clubs, particularly those in New York City where potential members may belong. We were pleased to add the following Clubs to our reciprocal roster: The Union League (New York City), The National Arts Club, The Penn Club, The University Club (Providence, RI) and Circolo Esteri (Rome, Italy) and we expect that this list will continue to grow in FY26.
In FY25 Club communications continued to improve. We published five editions of our member-favorite as well as the Club’s Annual Report and Golf, R Boathouse, Pool and Youth & Family informatio Instagram channel remains active and now boa followers
We continued to leverage the capabilities of th and were pleased to introduce online booking both racquet sports and boating, as well as a n welcome center for those who have just joined development of a detailed orientation presenta Oak Leafs/Acorns is also planned for FY26
In FY25 we sent targeted surveys to our membe receive feedback on special events, tournamen with the goal of improving our offerings across all campuses and activities. We remind all members who receive a survey to please complete it, so that we can continually enhance and refine what we offer
Special Thanks

In closing, we’d like to offer special thanks to all who work throughout year to grow our membership and improve our Club, especially the Club’s wonderful Membership Committee who has had a particularly busy spring membership season interviewing over 20 new Oak Leafs and Acorns ahead of the summer season.

GOLF UPDATE
Ron Fuerst, Rich Jahnke, Golf & Green Co-Chairs
Chris Muldoon, Director of Golf
Another golf season is underway although rain has somewhat put a damper on Spring rounds We look forward to better weather ahead as we approach our active season – and this season expects to be another busy one Last season, play was down 2 7% compared to the prior year – but 17,716 total rounds still marks the second-highest total within the past 15 years.
While member tournament play remained robust last season, we continue to support the local golf community by hosting some of our area ’ s “majors” We are proud to be hosting the region’s top amateur and professional golfers for the 103 Westchester Open Championship on June 9 & 10 We are represented well by our members, with current Club Champion Joseph Furlong IV, Tyler Cline, & Zach Pallis in the field, as well as by our staff with Head Golf Professional Max Breiner, Senior Assistant Golf Professional Devlin Walsh, and former First Assistant Professional (now Head Golf Professional at Bonnie Briar Country Club) Joe Condomitti. Good luck!
As the country’s second oldest women's golf association founded in 1899, the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association (WMGA) brings the 95th Husband & Wife Championship to Tuxedo on July 31 Similar to our own Husband & Wife Championship, the Benziger Cup, teams will compete in a Pinehurst Stroke Play format We are hopeful that a Tuxedo team will hoist the trophy
In October, we will host the 107 rendition of the Quadrangular Team Matches. This timehonored tradition between The Tuxedo Club, Somerset Hills Country Club, Morris County Golf Club & Rumson Country Club began in 1898 and is widely believed to the oldest ongoing interclub competition in the United States th
A reminder that golf outings are a wonderful source of revenue for our Club as well as a great way to attract new members Most of our golf outings come to us from a relationship a member has with a charitable foundation, company or trade association Fortunately, we still have dates available for the season – including the prime Fall date of Monday, September 15 . As you peruse the Golf Calendar, take note of available Mondays to host larger outings or consider smaller outings during the week. th
A special thanks to the members of the Golf & Green Committee for their guidance and support throughout each season As we begin our active season, let’s all do our do our part to respect the course, respect your fellow players and staff, and respect the game we all enjoy We look forward to a great season

GREENS UPDATE
Ron Fuerst, Rich Jahnke, Golf & Green Co-Chairs
Casey Klossner, Director of Agronomy
22024 was a season of record setting weather patterns After a seemingly wet May in 2024, June 15th brought about a hot and humid stretch that would end up lasting into the first week of August During this stretch, there were 24 days in the 90s, which is certainly an abnormal occurrence To close out the golf season, we were faced with an unprecedented 52-day stretch without measurable precipitation
Extreme weather patterns tend to show the weaknesses of any golf course In our case, hightraffic and poor growing environments had a significant impact on some of our tee complexes During the season, a tree company was hired to prune a significant number of branches adjacent to 12 and 17 tees The trees surrounding these tee complexes block necessary sunlight to keep our grass varieties healthy Plans have recently been discussed to rebuild and expand 12 and 17 tee complexes in the long term to improve their growing environments and increase the available square footage, which will lead to healthier turf. In the spring of 2025, trees were removed behind the tee complex on hole 1 to improve morning sun exposure to the tee surface. These tree removals have already proven to be beneficial to the health of our first tee.
Additionally, our annual putting green aeration practices were adjusted during the 2024 season and into the spring of 2025. The aeration normally scheduled for the day after Labor Day has been eliminated and spring Drill and Fill has been replaced with the less invasive DryJect sand injection as of April 2025 These adjustments were made to limit course disruption and present the best possible putting conditions for the maximum number of days during the golf season Soil test results have shown improvements in soil structure, and we are confident the putting greens will continue to perform well
The Fall drought of 2024 also magnified the need to improve our irrigation water supply In October of last season, the creek alongside hole 14 went dry This scenario meant there was no water flowing into our irrigation pond on holes 5 and 6 Measures were then taken to conserve water, such as running emergency wells, eliminating rough irrigation, and hand watering all playing surfaces with an army of staff each day To mitigate our need to improve our irrigation water storage system, we have been working with the engineering firm Weston and Sampson for a number of years Their role is to obtain streamflow data, represent the club in its communication to all necessary governing bodies, and find well drilling locations that will ultimately provide enough irrigation water to our pond to make the golf course self-sufficient during dry periods This process is slow and cumbersome but will protect the property from any irrigation or permit restrictions set forth by the NYSDEC (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation).
The presence of geese on the golf course has been troublesome to our property for many seasons. The mess they create requires extra effort from our staff to keep the course clean. This year, North Jersey Geese Chasers were hired to check our property and harass geese multiple times each day This program has proven to be quite successful since its implementation in April 2025
In closing, we are pleased to report that the golf course is in excellent condition, and it is ready for another great summer Thank you for your continued support and providing us with the necessary resources to improve the course each and every year

Tournament Recaps
2024 Hadden Tomes
The Tuxedo Club once again put on quite a show for the 2024 Hadden Tomes, which had a ‘PIRATE’ theme for this year ’ s event A huge THANK YOU to Randy St John and his staff for providing a first-rate experience for all the attendees which has become the norm under this staff as they outdo themselves every year All the participants are already wondering what the theme for 2025 will be, and what wonderful experiences The Tuxedo Club staff will provide for the participants.
Fifty-Six players representing seven different Clubs from around the world participated in the racquets portion of the 2024 Hadden Tomes The professional staff was also able to incorporate Tuxedo’s beautiful new Padel courts into the festivities over the weekend

After 42 matches over two and a half days the finals for the three flights were set for Sunday afternoon
Flight Three
In a super close match; Laure Veldkamp & Jeff Greenbaum defeated Lindsay Maxwell & Jules Zachar 8-6 The match saw many super long rallies, with Laura and Jeff ultimately being a bit steadier when it mattered
Flight Two
Another tight match saw Claire Voegele & Ernie Sink defeat Amy Gold & Hazel Christensen 8-6. An enthusiastic crowd cheered on the players, and they responded with some very entertaining tennis!
Flight One

A much-anticipated match was on tap in the Flight One final with Leonard Mazzone & Dan Laukitis taking on Todd ‘playground champ’ Yannuzzi & Rich Mueller The match unfortunately did not live up to the hype as Rich & Todd were clinical in their dismissal of Leonard & Dan in an 8-1 victory
On the Padel side of the weekend; 18 matches were played on Tuxedo’s new courts with a fun time had b all participants!

2024 Anne Boleyn Handicapped Singles
The 2024 event had 12 players representing three different US-based Clubs.
The Tuxedo Club: Heather Kidde, Lindsay Maxwell, Elisabeth McMorris, Serena Mueller, Maria Panico, Laura Veldkamp & Margaret Werner
Philadelphia Racquet Club: Sydney Alderman, Alexis Dorr, Julia Nolan & Carlie Rice
Aiken Tennis Club: Claire Voegele
The format for this event was (3) four-person round robins with the winners of each round robin and the player with the next highest number of games won progressing through to the semi-finals After 18 matches and 216 games played the semi-finalists were set
Penny Lumley Flight Winner - Claire Voegele
Charlotte Cornwallis Flight Winner - Lindsay Maxwell
Claire Fahey Flight Winner - Serena Mueller
Player with most games won not as a flight winnerMargaret Werner
The first semi-final saw a rematch between Serena Mueller and Margaret Werner, with Margaret getting a little revenge and winning the rematch to move on to the Finals. Lindsay Maxwell continued to play solid tennis and took advantage of the handicap difference and won her semi-final versus Claire Voegele The Final was a back-and-forth affair with Margaret making a few less unforced errors and becoming the 2024 Anne Boleyn champion with an 8-6 victory
A BIG Thank you to the Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh and Laure Veldkamp in billeting the Philadelphia contingent and also thank you to Max Trueman and Jake Faulise for the expert marking and organizing the tournament.

49 matches were played across the holiday weekend with 11 Juniors playing in the Singles and 15 teams in the Family Doubles.
Junior HCP Singles
Walt Laukitis, Henry Nieuwerburgh & Elliot Philpott all won their respective round robins to move into the semi-finals of the JR HCP Singles main draw Anson Devinney & Jonah Serotta tied with 17 games won in their round robins and had a 7:15 AM Sunday morning tie breaking match to see who would be the 4 player in the main draw Anson and Jonah put on quite a show at 7:15 AM with an 8/7 nail biter going to Anson
In the first semi-final; Anson was able to reverse a loss to Walt Laukitis in the round robin and move through to the final. In the second semi-final, Henry Nieuwerburgh continued to play solid, mistake-free tennis and eased by Elliot Philpott for his place in the Final.
The Final was an entertaining match for the spectators, but the combination of a decent HCP and very steady play by Henry proved too much for Anson to overcome! Congratulations to Henry - a deserving Champion!
In the back draw, Paul Nieuwerburgh and Kurt Mueller played well below their respective handicaps in a 4/3 0/4 4/3 semi-final win for Kurt, which set up another rematch of a round robin match in the Final vs. Jonah Serotta. As was the case in their round robin match, both players thrilled the crowd with some great tennis, as Jonah earned a well-deserved 6/4 win
A great group of Juniors; and evidence that the game has it’s hooks into the youngsters!

Family HCP Doubles
The change in format from a Parent-Child event to a ‘Family’ event was viewed as a huge success We had the following ‘Family’ teams: Father-Son, Husband-Wife, Mother-Son, Father-Daughter & Mother-Daughter
A total of 15 pairs faced off for the title of FAMILY HCP DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
After 21 round robin matches; our semi-finalists were determined.
Laura Veldkamp & Henry Nieuwerburgh
Lindsay & Gavin Maxwell
Serena & Rich Mueller
Grace & Chase Ormond
In their first court tennis tournament; the Ormonds having won their round robin, faced the buzz saw that is Henry Nieuwerburgh and his mom, Laura Veldkamp Henry & Laura were too strong, but a huge congrats to Grace & Chase for a great weekend of tennis. The second semi was a barn burner for two sets; as the Muellers and Maxwells split sets…and the crowd settled in for a much anticipated third set. Unfortunately, a few untimely errors by the Muellers let the set get away quickly and the Maxwells moved on to the Final
After a very tight first set; the Maxwells found their groove in the second and were our 2025

2025 Gold Racquets Rackets Singles
Congratulations to Henry ‘THE BIG UNIT’ Smith for his victory over Spencer Yager in the 2025 Gold Rackets Single tournament. As the draws attest, it was a very well attended event with lots of rackets being played ’HAVE HIM OUT!’
2025 Gold Racquets Rackets Spittoon Doubles
Guy Devereux with partner Spencer Yager added to an impressive number of Gold Racquets titles by taking home the 2025 Rackets Spittoon Doubles title over Henry Smith and Erik Barker.
The 2025 Gold Racquets from beginning to end - from the endless sporting events to the world class social events - once again showed why it is a ‘must play’ on the USCTA calendar year in and year out
2025 REVERSE Court Tennis Handicapped Doubles
Back for 2025 the REVERSE is a Handicapped Court Tennis Doubles event where the serving and receiving sides are REVERSED!
After all the matches were complete; Doug Rowles & Scott Mullins along with Wilkie Paes & Campbell Langdon emerged victorious in their respective Round Robins

BOATHOUSE UPDATE
Phil Tavani, Boathouse Chair
Daniel Britts, CCM, Assistant General Manager
As we look ahead to the 2025 season at the Boathouse, we are excited to build upon thoughtful growth and enhanced member engagement
Under the leadership of our Boatmaster, Ted, the Boathouse team continues its mission to reinvigorate the Club’s lakefront traditions – canoes, kayaking and sailing to fishing and leisurely pontoon boat cruises on the water.
A cruise on Tuxedo Lake remains one of the most scenic and unique ways to experience the beauty of our Club Whether enjoying a peaceful solo moment sitting by the lake or entertaining family and friends, these experiences continue to grow in popularity
Thanks to the initiative and energy of Dockhand Jack MacLeod, the Club’s waterfront programming has entered an exciting new chapter. Building on the momentum of our popular fishing program, Jack has organized a series of four seasonal derbies that have brought friendly competition and camaraderie to the lake Looking ahead, we are also exploring the expansion of sailing opportunities, including lessons and skill-building clinics to help members of all ages and experience levels gain confidence on the water As interest grows, we envision Tuxedo Lake becoming not just a place of recreation, but a learning hub for lifelong waterfront skills.
The Boathouse continues to serve as a hub of lakeside activity, and our team is committed to creating even more meaningful and member driven experiences We appreciate your support and look forward to another rewarding season on the water
See you at the waterfront!
