TOUR BEGINS...AGAIN At the onset of 2016, 5SOS and their fans were well aware that the band was set to play more than 100 shows across the world. From Japan to Connecticut and everywhere in between, thousands of fans - 743,906 to be exact - would get to hear the Sounds Good Feels Good album live.

After much anticipation from both the band and the fans, SLFL kicked off in Nagoya, Japan, on February 19, 2016. They traveled throughout Asia – to Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and the Philippines – playing a 20-song set filled with new hits from the band’s sophomore album, Sounds Good Feels Good, and older fan favorites like Disconnected. During this time, 5SOS played in front of thousands of fans who have never seen the band live, making the starting leg of the tour special for all those involved. Additionally, while on tour, 5SOS had the honor of winning “Worst Band” in the NME Awards for the second consecutive year.

After spending a month in Asia, 5SOS flew to the U.K. for the second leg of the SLFL Tour. With 41 shows in 67 days across all of Europe, 5SOS had the opportunity to explore new cities, meet new fans and play iconic venues such as the Verona Area.

2016 WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON On April 5, the Sounds Live Feels Live tour started in Sheffield, England. Two days later, the band was invited to Grimmy BBC Radio 1 where they talked about everything from their favorite soups, when they eat dinner and answered some fan questions.

In May, it was announced that Hey Violet, ONE OK ROCK and Roy English would join the Sounds Live Feels Live Tour as the openers for the upcoming North American leg.

On June 2, RCA announced that the Ghostbusters soundtrack would feature a 5 Seconds of Summer song, which caused rampant excitement among fans as a staple franchise movie would include a piece of 5SOS forever. Eventually, they would release Girls Talk Boys as a feature song for the movie.

After two months in the U.K. and Europe, the second leg of Sounds Live Feels Live Tour ended in Madrid, Spain, on June 11. Later, on June 30, the American leg started in Uncasville, CT.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN While touring in North America, 5SOS played 47 shows, got nominated for six Teen Choice Awards, release Girls Talk Boys for the Ghostbusters soundtrack, played Pandora Summer Crush and even said goodbye to their official Tumblr page.

During this time, 5SOS headlined a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, “The World’s Most Famous Arena.” With more than 12,000 fans cheering on what seemed to be the biggest, most significant show of their career, it was a onenight-only event that no one in attendance will forget.

Despite all of the craziness of traveling and seeing thousands of fans on any given night, Ashton and Calum took a short trip to Hawaii during a two-week break between shows.

Upon returning, the band flew to Tulsa to begin the second half of the North American tour. And after crowning Houston as the “Loudest Crowd 2016” (especially after Michael played his guitar on his back during the Castaway guitar battle with Luke), the band headed down to Monterrey and Mexico City to round out the rest of the North American leg of Sounds Live Feels Live.

5SOS TURNS FIVE At the end of September, the band traveled across the world to play the last few shows of the Sounds Live Feels Live Tour in Australia. And on October 5, 2016, 5SOS played their 101st show of the year in their hometown of Sydney.

A few weeks later, 5SOS won Best International Group at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards and celebrated Sound Good Feels Good’s first birthday. Soon after, “Jet Black Heart” won Video Del Verano at the MTV Spain Awards.

Finally, Michael joined the 21+ club on November 20, 2016. Fans celebrated on social media, tweeting and sharing fan art, while the band began a short posttour break.

December 3, 2016, marked an important date in 5SOS history – the band’s fifth anniversary. Somehow, this band that put everything they had into their career, which seemingly flew by, was only celebrating five years together. To honor the monumental event, 5SOS release all of their old b-sides and rarities on streaming platforms. Finally, fans had access to the iconic Don’t Stop EP and songs like Close As Strangers. One can only imagine how we will celebrate the tenth anniversary.

MEET THE FANS Paige J (@Irwinsgigglxs) Paige first became a 5SOS fan in early 2012 before she started her freshman year of high school. She first found out about the band through One Direction. She and her best friend were both huge 1D fans, and when she heard about One Direction playing a show city near her, she started to listen to 5SOS and learn more about them.

She has seen 5SOS multiple times! Some of these times include the Take Me Home Tour in San Jose on July 30, 2013; Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour Mountain View on July 22, 2015; Sounds Live Feels Live Tour Mountain View on September 2, 2016; Meet You There Tour San Jose on October 3, 2018; and World War Joy Tour San Francisco on November 29, 2019, and Sacramento on December 1, 2019.

She thinks that one of the best things 5SOS has done is Derpcon. She has always also loved that we watched a guy paint a wall for the She’s Kinda Hot announcement. She says that 5SOS likes to play with our emotions, and it’s annoying, but it is the reason that they are so amazing. The best thing about 5SOS for her is how much they love and appreciate their fans. Her favorite 5SOS songs are San Francisco and Old Me. San Francisco brings back a lot of great memories for her, and she can’t help but love Old Me - it has taught her a lot about herself.

She would like to thank 5SOS for everything that they have done for her. They have inspired her and have brought her and her amazing friends together. She thanks them for creating a safe space and helping her get through all of the tough times. Some of the best memories she has made are because of 5SOS, and they have taught her so much.
