NARCISSUS
Narcissus tells the story of a handsome and proud youth, many individuals falling in love with him, causing rejection as Narcissus was only in love with himself.
While wondering through the woods, Narcissus came by a pool of water. When he first captured his reflection he was immediately captivated by his own beauty, gazing for hours on end, admiring and falling deeper and deeper in love with himself.
Growing weaker and weaker by being so infatuated with himself, refusing to leave the pool. Still gazing at his own reflection Narcissus died. The gods felt sorry for the passing of Narcissus and preserved his beauty into, the Narcissus/daffodil flower.
Everyone can enjoy his beauty with the flower symbolising rebirth and new beginnings.
The part in the allegory of Narcissus, where he firsts captures his reflection, this can be translated into an idea. The use of reflective materials such as glass or polished metal can be incorporated within a design. Symbolic materials can be represented through dark stone, conveying the sense of sadness when Narcissus dies.

To reduce waste the design is moveable through the use of screws means it is not a permanent feature and can be dismantled. Connected to a vertical face the flower gets the most effect this way, allowing it to push into the space in which it occupies. Creating connection to focus and obsession.
Connecting with users through the ease of a touch, which triggers the gear to pull on the tie hiding the flower momentarily and then springing out into the space, with many placed together this creates a fiel of opening and closing flowers.
