At the beginning of the construction, we decided to use the combination of 13 bricks as the column of first floor, and filled the wall with same structure of bricks. However the stability of the structure is questioned as the first floor is somehow the basis of the whole tower.

therefore on of the member come out with a better idea: each level of the column has four bricks and the direction of connecting level is opposite. So that the column will be wider and can carry more load.

The new basis composed by 9 column with 13 levels of the new structure and (another one is setted at the position of the animal). This level contain the most number brick and widest wall to curry the weight of the whole tower.

The second level start with a special beam:

The four bricks up on the beam can help strength the connecting part if the bricks and decentralize the force to the columns, so that the rubber that fasten the bricks won’t break and the beam can curry more force.

Second floor has much less brick than the first, we used the normal wall structure to make sure it’s stable.

After the second floor reached around 40cm’s height, tutor suggested us to limit the number of bricks in each level to reach as tall as we can in the shortest time. Hence the shape of each level change from square to circle and become smaller

And finally become to two bricks per level. The competition with group 1 started as the time was almost finished. Though we realized the unstable of this structure ther was no time for us to restructure it and it collapsed in the last minutes. Finall tower:

During the weight capacity test group 1’s tower, I thought it will collapse at red circle, however it collapsed at purple circle. Posible collapsed point

During the deconstruction of the tower. We started from the based columns, then up to the second level:

Then the third level:

Finally, two side of the tower was removes and the force only carried on the other two. Hence when I try to move one brick at the circled area, the tower started to shake and finally fell down.
