Τι να πρωτοθαυμάσει κανείς στο ιστορικό αυτό χωριό της Σιθωνίας. Η Νικήτη ιδρύθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια του 14ου αιώνα, με τον αρχικό οικισμό να συγκεντρώνεται στη σημερινή τοποθεσία του παλιού χωριού. NIKITI This historic village of Sithonia has so many things to show! Nikiti was established during the 14th century, with the ancient settlement being situated at the current location of the old village. In fact, before its establishment, it used to be a monastery. A walk around the narrow alleys of the old village with the houses representing the characteristic examples of the typical architecture of Macedonia feels like a trip to the past. Visit the temple of St. Nikitas, dating back to 1870, the temple of the Assumption of the Mother of God with impressive murals from the 16th century and the Historic and Folklore Museum that is housed in the old school. TIP: It is worth reaching to the chapel of Prophet Elias, built on the top of the small town, offering a panoramic view of the beach of Nikiti and the Toronean Gulf.

AFYTOS Apart from its beach, which is one of the most popular ones on the first “foot” of Chalkidiki, Afytos is still a tourist spot due to its vibrant, stone settlement with the cafés and the bars of the area, overlooking the wonderful Toronean Gulf. Leave your car at the public parking area and start walking around the narrow streets of the village to admire the distinctive stone structures. Among the sights is also the Folklore Museum that is housed in Aletras Building, the temple of St. Dimitrios, dating back to the 19th century, along with the famous sculptures of Vasilis Pavlis. PARTHENONAS Located at Sithonia, just 5 km away from Neos Marmaras and perched on the slopes of mount Itamos at an altitude of 350 meters, the traditional Parthenonas settlement is definitely a showstopper. Submerged in nature, and overlooking the Toronean Gulf, it stands out with its houses with the typical architectural style of Macedonia, which were restored thanks to the initiative taken by “Parthenon” Association, after the village was abandoned during the 1970s. Enjoy a refreshing break at the traditional cafés and the taverns of the village, away from the bustling and overcrowded tourist hubs.

AGHIA PARASKEVI This mountain village built within a pine forest on the southern part of Kassandra, is considered as one of the most beautiful places in Chalkidiki. It will steal your heart from the first moment thanks to its picturesque settlement that is filled with idyllic alleys lined with traditional cafés and taverns that serve dishes from the local cuisine. Don’t forget to visit the renowned thermal baths of the area that are popular for their healing properties!

ARNEA Built amphitheatrically, at an altitude of 600 meters on the foothills of mount Cholomontas, it attracts numerous tourists thanks to its short distance from Thessaloniki (72 km) and its picture-perfect landscape that is surrounded by pines and fresh waters. The heart of this historic settlement (recognized as a “traditional settlement” by the Ministry of Culture since 1987) beats at the main square, the starting point of the cobblestone streets that lead to renovated mansions. Among the sights is the School from 1871 (the “Liarigovi Urban School”) and the Alexandrou House, a two-storey listed building from 1812, a typical architectural symbol of Arnea. Don’t miss a visit to the Weaving Museum that is houses in a 1870-building. Last but not least, Arnea offers delicious local products that visitors can enjoy at the taverns, the cafés and the pastry shops of the area.
