my hobby

Cod -ing Have you ever thought that codeing is interesting? Have you ever found yourself thinking that it is something you want to include in your everyday life?

www.icdetbg.eu/

Part 1 Well, our participants Vasilena and Ivaylo from the YE "Gamification exchanges" share the same interest as me and they will share with us how they usually implement coding in their everyday life, how they combine it with their other daily activities and how they have already developed their knowledge in the programming field with the one and only help of ERASMUS+ projects.

A couple of months ago, I learnt for first time ever about the Erasmus+ projects through internet. Having in mind the possibilities it offers and its benefits, I almost immediatelly searched for projects and, in the present, I have already attended two different youth exchanges. They became kind of an escape from the ordinary days where I could both develop my understanding of the surrounding

and socialize with unique and astonishing new people. In the end I would like to say that all of the Erasmus+ projects I had attended always had a positive reflection on me and on my attitude towards my life.

Monthly eddition | September 2019

Another thing I do in my free time aside from researching and participating in youth exchanges is programming. Since l was a little child, I have had a passion about computers, logical puzzles and so on. This passion naturally turned into a desire to learn more about the topics and develop in this area. And here I am, years later studying software

development in high school and improving my skills with each day. In fact, the second project (the last one I have participated till now) in which I participated in, was about Game Development and I learnt a lot about developing games in a short period of time. We had a special Hackathon day in which, divided by teams, we had to develop a game.

Issue â„– 17

Another favorite thing of mine to do in my free time is drawing. I love to draw all kinds of stuff: hands, animals, faces, anatomy and etc. It gives me time to think, which I do best while working with my hands. It’s a great way to express yourself, relieve your stress and enjoy your time. I am actually quite passionate about sport activities as well. They give

me the much-needed opportunity to release my energy and enjoy the day. Overall there are a lot of things I tend to do in my free time but attending projects definitely beats all the others because it simply combines them in the best way possible.".

Part 2

The students should fill in the online application form and submit the required documents such as their transcripts, diplomas, one reference letter, if available exOne of my biggest passions is programming. When I was 13-14 years old, I was in my friend's place. He is like the best guy I know and we always share our ideas and activities. He wanted to show me the web site that he made. At this point in time I had no idea what was programming neither how it works. It seemed like some magic. You write some codes in a notepad, name the file. HTML and objects just pop up on the screen when you refresh the page. I was hooked instantly. The first thing I did when I got home was to find some YouTube videos on the topic and after some research, I

started learning html from some trash site. The cool part was that if I got stuck at some point he helped me and explained everything as best as he could. He continued his education through the years and now he's making phone games and posts them in the Google play. Right now I'm learning python and the thrill from the studying is the same as when I started.am results like SAT, TOEFL. After completing the online application form, they should send their attested original transcripts (for UG applications) and all documents (for graduate applications) by post. This part is the most important part. Because without attested original transcripts or documents, the faculties do not evaluate their applications.

LETTER EXCHANGING in 21st century

Issue â„– 17

Today I am going to tell you about my passion for exchanging letters. I am not talking about emails or paper letters; it is something in the middle. I have found an app called „Slowly“, where you can exchange letters with strangers but they are not delivered instantly. The delivery time depends on the distance between you and the person you are sending the letter to. It is not like other networking and dating apps – the people using the app are different. You may wonder why I would like to wait for receiving a message instead of instantly chatting with whomever. Firstly, it gives me time to think more when I have questions to answer. In the beginning, when a friend told me about the app, I thought it is stupid to wait for an answer sometimes more than a day but when I tried it, I found out something. I don’t feel pressured to answer at the exact moment and the anticipation of a letter in exciting. I have met so many people across the world. The first who wrote me a letter were from the Philippines and from India. They were really kind and respectful people. We talked about our cultures, dreams and problems freely. The app is secure so if you don’t say your name or personal information, there is no way the other person to find your real life identity. I wrote a letter to a girl in Bulgaria. We talked about everything. We both were students in school, both loved the Harry Potter series. We had fun talking. And that’s how letter after letter I got to know more than 80 people across the world - people who speak different languages and have different cultures. These letters were able to make me smile and brought excitement to my life, I found friends and learned about the life of people from other countries. By Alexander Uzunski

One week EVS exchange

Monthly eddition | September 2019

Issue № 17

So this is how i remember our EVS life from the last week in Sofia. Each day has it’s own tag according to the events and activities have been made. Here we go… Thanks to #EuropeanNightofMuseums we got to taste of Bulgarian culture through so many special collections in different galleries such as National Gallery, Art Gallery Europe and Enakor Auction House. What else we could possibly be doing on a sunny day in Sofia? Of course we went to South Park and appreciate the good weather. Since the big event is coming up, final preparations made in our Gaze+bo office; learned how to use media materials and built our teams for the occasion.

... live a life you will remember.

#inaction Conference time! Finally our preparations is gonna pay off. I picked up participants from Portugal and they are such amazing people with their positivity. A day full of dialogue! First we were in charge of the events we organised: Migration + Action= Global Reaction. We dived into the topic and made a lot of interviews with Erasmus+ project professionals.

EVS in Hindsight

Aye Aye captain! Plovdiv is waiting ahead. We made a guide for the participants of the event which we are the hosting organisation for the European Capital of Culture 2019. Just betweens us: I am also excited to see the city! But first, i have to pick up the participants from the airport :)

It was challenging to be in front of the camera and ask questions in English in some topic i barely memorise. Second, there was a street event in Vitosha boulevard which you sit on the street in front of someone you don’t know and make some real eye contacts -without distraction of a smartphone- then of course having real conversation with your street-mate. I met 4 different people from different ages and stories. The last one is the most memorable: Yevgenia - a mother of 9 years old! She is a drawer and quit her handmade jewelry craft because she realised that women are buying those jewelries just to fill the emotional hole of theirs. She thinks some brands are more successful than others discovering this emotional hole and making people believe that they can fill it buying their products. She also doesn’t send her daughter to school because in her opinion school is not life.

Can we make friendships and learn from gaming? Some of the participants in the passed YE "Gamification exchanges" and YE "Employable youths", which took place in Costinesti, Romania in June wanted to share with us about their passion for video games. They want to break the stereotype that " videogames zombify people" as they actually helped them make friends and develop themselves.

The difference between g a m e r s and gamer s

During my free time I like to sit in front of the computer and explore new stories inside videogames (but not when I have stuff to do with school or work). And I really enjoy doing that. But what really pisses me off sometimes is when people say that videogames zombify people. This is totally wrong and such people should make the difference between gamers and gamers. On one hand, you really have the people that play like zombies and just want to get on the next level. These are usually kids or people with too much free time. And on the other hand, you have the gamers that play games with beautiful, touching and enlightening stories that can make you think about yourself as a person and your decisions, and to really show you how life works. Such gamers I respect and like to talk to.

Issue № 17

My first experience to cry on a game was on “Life Is Strange”. It’s a popular game in which you play as a photography student who can bend time in a specific way, and who meets for the first time with her best friend for 6 years. They have some fun time together, some things happen, and you take some choices and every choice you make changes the outcome of the game. At the end you are faced against the biggest decision a person can make – to sacrifice your number 1 person to save everything, or to sacrifice everything you know and love to save your best friend. And even though you can rewind time you can’t escape that choice. What I like about the game is that it shows how in our lives you can’t always have win situation. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something to achieve something else. And you can’t really run from it. You just got to make it either you like it or not. And I really cried. I don’t know why.

The bigger part of a student’s life takes place in school, and after school it is filled with homework, students tend to attend private lessons for the harder subjects so they don’t have enough time to appreciate the fun and awesome part of having a sport as a hobby. I can proudly say that I am not one of them. From a very young age I got fired up about videogames (online games) and haven’t stopped playing since. My friends and I always try to think about new strategies for us to win easier. Thanks to the online games I got to meet so many new people all around the world and thanks to our constant communication, my English improved and so did my skills in teamwork. For all the years I have been gaming, the most important lesson I’ve learned, is that you need to protect the others not only yourself. My favorite game is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (5v5 online FPS shooter).

I realized that I wanted more than virtual friends so together with some friends, we decided to start practicing volleyball. The teamwork skills from videogames were about to pay off. We fell in love with the beautiful sport although we are not that good it’s still fun to gather with friends and play outside the computer. Of course sometimes we aren’t on the same page and we scold each other but it’s normal for teens with real friendship to fall off sometimes. All my life I haven’t even thought about being this happy, having friends not only in the game of Counter-Strike but in the volleyball field as well. I remember one time we were playing against the champions and they were so much stronger than us but we held together and learned that we are there for each other. And in case you are wondering about our coach, he is the best, yes he might yell at us sometimes but it’s only for good because he wants us to get better and become the next champions.

Monthly eddition | September 2019

Issue № 17

www.icdetbg.eu/

Strange”.
