“When it seems we have lost our way, we find it all again on Christmas day”

You Have Everything You Need If You Just Believe This holiday season is so very different in so many ways. We decorate, for no one but ourselves to enjoy. There are no events to attend besides closed window, drive through and look at lights, options. No school Christmas parties, no church choir concerts; we make plans to watch our Christmas Eve service at church – online. Santa comes in a bubble complete with mask. Our life as we know it during this season has ceased to exist. Every measure of the holiday season as I have known it for over twenty years working in jobs related to community, events and networking – is gone. The harried but happy rush to attend multiple open houses, to host parties and parade watching, decorating the classroom at school and enjoying more socializing than we do in a whole year; not present this year. There is quiet. There is almost a feeling of not knowing what to do next. So, we pray. We pray for the reason for the season – even more fervently than we might on another ordinary Christmas year. We pray for hope. We pray for change to come soon. We pray that we see another Christmas like we know it to be. We pray. And with prayer, is faith and the most important element of all, in our faith and our prayers - and most assuredly at Christmas – we have to believe. Virginia learned that and I share with you, as I have every year since I started publishing this magazine – the wonderful letter of old, sharing the story reminding us all that: “Yes Virginia, there Is a Santa Claus.” And how, do you ask, am I certain of this? Because I believe. I believe in the spirit of Christmas and I believe in a baby born in a manger so long ago. I believe in the power of that moment of light in the darkness of the world. And today – we must believe again. Believe that someday soon – things will be as they should, once more. I know my prayer is your prayer. I know my belief is yours. Do not lose faith. Like the song from Polar Express says - You have everything you need if you just believe. From our house to yours Williamson County, may this Christmas season be filled with light, hope, love, faith and a belief in something that carries you through to the better days ahead.
