Exercise Is Key To Better Health

The Y aims to improve East Bay’s health by providing programs and activities that promote health, wellness, and fitness, reduce risk, and reverse chronic disease by engaging members of all ages.

Exercise has many benefits, like better quality of rest, mental health, strengthening your muscles and bones, heightened learning and memory functions, reduced health risks, weight management, and increased chances of living longer.

FITNESS COACHING & WELLNESS PROGRAMS

The Y offers programs that help prevent chronic disease, like our Y-Diabetes Prevention program, and personalized fitness coaching.

Healthy Youth Programs

Providing a safe place and high-quality programs for over 2,000 teens to get healthy, make friends, and build confidence. The Y has also partnered with Beyond Barriers Athletic Foundation who will offer swim lesson financial assistance for low-income families in Oakland.

Vaccine Clinic

In Spring 2022, the Y partnered with local health providers to distribute COVID-19 vaccines and education to over 1,000 families. With the help of a grant funded by Kaiser Permanente, the Y incentivized families to encourage vaccines from the Early Childhood Impact and Youth Development programs as part of the ‘Best Shot’ campaign.
