Camp Loma Mar in June 2022 welcomed a reunion of nearly 40 former camp staff from 1968-1972, ranging from counselors to nurses and directors. The camp staff reunion started by reminiscing on those days past, sharing photos and stories, and hearing what everyone has been up to since the last gathering six years ago.

“It was so much fun to see everyone who attended the reunion after all these years. While many of us stayed in touch with each other, it was quite a treat to catch up with others whom we haven’t seen in many years,” said Bud Sheble, former Camp Director in charge of planning efforts for this camp reunion.

Ryan James, Camp Executive Director, greeted former staff guests and conducted a camp tour by highlighting all of the upgrades and improvements, including the most recent cabin renovations. The day ended by gathering together at the Camp Fire Bowl and singing camp songs with the help of Kathy Catanho, Anne Casey, Larry Benevento, and others.

“Everyone fell right into the groove singing; you couldn’t tell any difference from over 50 years ago,”Bud said.

To commemorate the legacy of the former Camp Loma Mar staff, a campaign to renovate the Camp Fire Bowl was announced and has raised more than $52,200. The Camp Fire Bowl renovation will include new seating, increased capacity, disability access, a new stage, and lightning. A plaque with a list of all donors will be displayed at the Camp Fire Bowl.

Camp Loma Mar Cabin Upgrades

Twelve cabins were renovated last year, thanks to our donors who sponsored the cabin renovations, as well as a new road paved into camp, a new flagpole, and much more. We still have more work to beautify the camp and make it more accessible and inclusive. With your help, we can achieve these goals and more.
