My Fun Crayons is one of the enrichment programmes in Term1. Students were given an introduction and samples of the object they were going to draw, such as cupcake, ice cream, hot air balloons, birds etc. The best part of it was learning how to blend the right colour combinations. The girls looked forward to every lesson and enjoyed using the colourful crayons in class.

The YJEP was held during the first quarter of this year. The programme was held on 24 March 2018 at the KI-BIES Carnival 2018 where our students helped to teach people on how to make decorative items using the pipe cleaners. The girls also made flyers and leaflets to promote our booth at the carnival. The proceeds of the sales which was in the form of Popular bookstore vouchers were given to the school for the students who need financial assistance.

The Y Sport Stacking is an enrichment programme conducted in Term 1 where our students learned various skills. Other than hand-eye coordination, focus and alertness, they learned to be patient, kind and to share each other’s victories and losses as a team or partners in the doubles event. Our expert trainer came down to the centre and taught the girls basic techniques and the ultimate Cycle Stack! We sent five representatives to compete in the individual (Kelsey Kwok), doubles (Kelsey Kwok and Jennifer Maria Mascrenhas) and team (Lim Jing-En, Bertille Tng, Jennifer Maria Mascrenhas and Chloe Lau) categories last 19 June 2018 at the YMCA Headquarters.

Term 2 opened with The Y Junior MasterChef enrichment programme where the students learned the importance of healthy eating, food hygiene and the step-by-step procedure in preparing every dish. They were introduced to different food groups and made their very own “healthy plate” using pictures from magazine cut-outs. The girls had so much fun from making fruit satays, soft-boiled eggs without the use of a stove, to making Rice Krispies, Ham Flowers and many more!

The March school holidays theme: “Knowing Me, Knowing You! gave the students time to reflect on things that matter to them and bond with their friends. Team building activities allowed them to practice communication and problem-solving skills.

The June school holidays had weekly themes of letter-writing, a trip to Singapore Philatelic Museum, ice-cream making workshop, Hiroshima Peace Lantern Programme and improvisation skills workshop. We also awarded our Good Character Awards for Term 1, namely Kelsey Kwok, Lim Jing-En, Leanne Kwan and Abigail Seah.
