A preliminary round was conducted at KCSCC itself and one of our talented students was chosen to participate in the final round at YMCA Headquarters. With much pride,

It is always fun to find objects that you can reuse, repurpose and bring life back to things which are no longer in use. As computer systems are continually upgraded, CDs

become

obsolete.

Students

transformed these CDs into a chic set of coasters that are beautiful and useful.

In the last quarter of the year, the 3D Enrichment Programme was

conducted

by

external

vendors for all students. They were taught to construct 3D animated images using customised software. At the end of the 12 sessions, the students received a certificate

and

Children’s Day was celebrated with great delight and splendor. The children were treated to a special performance held at City Harvest Church. Apart from receiving goodie bags, the students thoroughly enjoyed the games planned by the mentors and had a very special lunch too. Their special day ended with a heartwarming movie “The Book of Life”.

Teachers’ Day is special day in September, where mentors are recognised for their work and dedication in nurturing young minds. The students showed their appreciation with cards and gifts which truly not only touched the hearts of the mentors at the centre, but it also portrayed what a fulfilling profession teaching is. All the mentors were treated to a wonderful dinner to commemorate this special day.

Every month, new values are introduced to the students to inspire and develop them into good and useful individuals. Lessons are conducted weekly. In December, we partnered

with

Temasek

Foundation

Nurtures to conduct fun and interesting CCE lessons with the students. As it is important for students to be in touch with

their

emotions,

students received a reflection journal

to

pen

their

thoughts and feelings for the day.

Students got into the Christmas mood and they stitched up their own ornaments using child-friendly plastic

needles.

This in-house workshop was conducted to help in developing the students’ hand-eye coordination skills, fine-tune their motor skills, developing creativity and concentration

levels.

There

are

endless

design

possibilities the students can make with perler beads. Their beautiful artwork will definitely be a reward for the time and effort that they have spent.

Batik is a Javanese traditional method of creating designs and patterns onto fabric. For the past year, students had been experimenting with different types of art mediums. Students had their very first hands-on experience, toning, mixing and matching colours to paint on the predrawn designs. 6

Students got to unleash their creativity as they interacted with the various art digital displays. The students were amazed to see their drawings of sea creatures come to life on the moving displays.

Pupils

were

also

engaged

in

Students attended a Workshop called “Exploring the Artist in You”. They learnt to observe light and shadow, colour tones and shapes. Thereafter, they transformed their creative works into
