Our child care educators create fun learning opportunities that help teach children social skills, the value of health and to become school-ready. Our educators have upto-date police security clearance and First Aid and CPR certification. In addition, they have postsecondary education in Early Childhood Development and are certified by Alberta Human Services.
Our child care service provides full-day childcare for children ages 6 months to 6 years. Our childcare educators implement the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, which aligns with primary school benchmarks and helps children learn and discover through creative play. YMCA Playing to Learn is intended to ensure a child’s continued enthusiasm and capacity for life-long learning. It provides an understanding of how play offers the foundation for learning to read and write, and for learning mathematics, science and technology. It provides early childhood educators with the skills to prepare spaces conducive to play-based learning and to utilize best practices which encourage quality learning experiences.
