ABOUT CAMP YMCA CAMPS

CAMP YMCA camps take place at SEVEN health & recreation locations (see page 4 for locations and amenities) Full day, one week and two week camps are offered all summer. One-day camps (aka Dailies) are offered during the first week of July.

MULTI-ACTIVITY CAMPS Multiple activities multiply the fun during these active camps. Campers will play sports, jump in the pool, get artsy, and participate in a variety of traditional camp games both in and out of the facility. They'll play court sports and enjoy a recreational swim each day (except for field trip days.) Each age group will enjoy activities appropriate for their developmental age.

BASKETBALL & MULTISPORT CAMPS Our basketball and multisport camps focus on skill development and building fitness through cross-training. Participants will get lots of practice and game play while they learn strategy, sportsmanship, practice team work and develop an even greater love of the game. The only prerequisite in these inclusive, non-intimidating camps is an interest in the sport!

An off-site field trip is included with each week-long camp

MULTI-ACTIVITY CAMPS, with option Does your child have a special interest in swimming, climbing or arts, but would still enjoy the variety of our Multi-Activity Camps? Our Multi-Activity, with Option camps will give your child a little extra time in their chosen option. SWIM OPTION Includes a daily 30-minute YMCA swim lesson by a certified instructor. Campers will be placed in the a YMCA Swim level that fits their skill level. Only available with 2-week camps. CLIMBING OPTION Includes daily time on the climbing wall with a certified climbing instructor. Campers will learn about safety, goal setting and perseverance. They will develop knot tying and communication skills and challenge themselves on new routes on both the climbing and bouldering walls.

CAMP HOURS 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

FIELD TRIPS Our field trip locations will be determined closer to the summer and will be announced prior to your child's camp start date. Last year field trips included: Calgary Corn Maze, the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark and more! All field trip destinations are inspected and vetted by YMCA staff to ensure that all campers have an engaging, fun and safe experience.

FOOD DRIVE WEEK During the week of August 10-13, all campers will participate in a Calgary Food Bank Drive.

ARTS OPTION Includes a daily session in the arts. Participants can choose from a selection of Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and Circus skills!

An off-site field trip is included with each one and two week camps

PRE & POST CARE HOURS Pre-care: 7:30 am - 8:30 am Post-care: 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

WE TAKE WATER SAFETY SERIOUSLY. Each camper is swim tested by a qualified lifeguard on their first visit to the pool. This will ensure each child is safe in and around the water, regardless of their swim skill/experience. Campers are carefully supervised during each pool visit.

8

We recognize that not all family members have the summer off, that’s why we are continuing to offer FREE pre and post care to all campers! Sign in your child as early as 7:30 am and pick up as late as 5:30 pm.
