While all indoor and outdoor recreational activities and services, including Day Camps, will follow available government health guidance to operate as a part of the continued easing of restrictions, we are working diligently to plan and offer camps in accordance to provincial regulations. Weekly Day Camps begin July 4th and end August 27th. Day Camps will be offered at the following locations: • • • • • • •

Will there be YMCA Camp Riveredge at Sandy Beach Park?

We will also be offering outdoor day camps at our YMCA Camp Riveredge at Sandy Beach location. This includes a Bike Camp option. Pick up and drop off will only be available from the Camp Riveredge site this year - we are not able to operate busses to and from other YMCA locations. Amenities at YMCA Camp Riveredge include archery, arts programming, outdoor skills, and short hikes.

Will you be offering Day Camps in downtown Calgary?

To ensure that families living or working out of the Calgary Core have access to safe and affordable Day Camps this Summer, the YMCA is developing CORE Kids. CORE Kids will be structured similarly to other YMCA Summer Day Camps while utilizing appropriate outdoor green spaces and an appropriate indoor space for sign-in and sign-out, arts and small group activities, and inclement weather. The Eau Claire YMCA remains closed. CORE Kids will be based out of another site in the downtown area across the street from Olympic Plaza. Registration is available now on our online portal.

What protocols will you have in place to keep myself and my family safe?

Physical Distancing

Smaller group sizes, outdoor games and activities, and increased staffing numbers, allow us to better accommodate 2 metre physical distancing, while encouraging responsible social interaction and participation between children.

Face Masks

Staff and children will wear masks in alignment with provincial health guidelines or YMCA guidelines at the time of their camp.

Daily Health Screenings All registrants will be asked to complete a digital COVID-19 health screening upon arrival, which will include a short symptom-related questionnaire. This tool will help you determine if it is safe for you and those in your party to participate. The screening data is secure and won’t be collected or shared in any way – it’s simply a way for you to know if it is safe for you and others to participate.

Increased Cleaning

Hand sanitizer will be available for all participants for use before, during and after program. Equipment will also be sanitized between activities.

Other Protocols Include: • Weekly cohorts, reducing the number of people your children will be in contact with • Using outdoor spaces for high energy activities • Structuring activities and experiences to reduce shared, high-touch objects and equipment • Proactive, responsible supervision Page 5

Choose Your Own Adventure!

The most extraordinary adventures always start with new experiences! This summer, help your kids beat boredom by giving them the experience to try something new, unplugged! With multi-activity camps, drama camps, and more, choose which adventure your kids want to go on!

Help Keep Camp Chief Hector Around for the Next 90 Years. Established in 1930, this has been one of our most challenging years yet for Camp Chief Hector YMCA. The pandemic has significantly impacted our ability to run our well-loved overnight summer camp and outdoor education school program resulting in little-to-no revenue for the second straight year. The temporary closure of camp, and loss of revenue, is causing significant financial challenges. As a charity, we rely on annual revenue to cover the operational costs of running our camp. Expenses related to facility maintenance, groundskeeping, horse care and essential staff remain. To help our camp remain strong, and sustainable, we are asking our Camp Chief Hector YMCA family to help us by donating and registering for a 2021 camp.

We ask you to draw nearer to camp and support us in any of the following ways. • Donate your summer registration fee. Click here to donate • Become a Camp Chief Hector TEAM UP monthly donor. Learn more here • Participate in our 50/50 Raffle – details coming soon! • Register for a day camp or family getaway camp by clicking here. • Register for Camp Chief Hector YMCA’s 90th celebration Sept. 11-12, 2021 - details coming soon!
