HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT SWIM LEVEL IS RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?

our progression chart and level  Use descriptions on page 15 & 16 .

If you have observed your child in the water, use the descriptions on the following pages to determine which level is right for your child. With the exception of Star Leadership 7, our unparented swim programs have two levels in each swim class. Once your child can confidently complete the skills in the first level they will move to the next (for example, once Bobbers successfully complete their skills, they move to Floaters). Depending on skill level, your child can be enrolled in the second level to start.

View your child’s lesson or ask your child’s swim instructor on the last day of lessons where to place your child for the next session.

Use your child’s online swim report card to determine what skills match which level. Contact your local YMCA and speak with a certified swim instructor.

Book a swim assessment with one of our aquatics team members or drop-in during our regular swim lessons - it’s free! If your child is under 8 years old, you must be in the water with your child during the assessment.

To access your child’s report card, visit www.ymcacalgary.org/reportcards. Use your membership or swim access card barcode number to login.
